Oh!
That reminds me. I have naturally curly hair about 5 inches past my shoulders, so I can straighten it or it holds curl really well.
She wondered if I wanted to pay $50 to get it done. No, right? Like PP mentioned I could probably pull off something like that on my own, esp if I practice a little beforehand.

Well, $50 might be a bit more than I'd like to pay, but I lean towards letting a professional handle it. I'm sure you're capable of it, but I wouldn't want to deal with the stress of trying to replicate it the morning of. That way if it comes out messed up, or takes too long to do, it's their fault & not yours. That's just me.
I did this at a recent wedding, it's super easy and you do it when your hair is still wet.
Brush your hair out and make sure you have a bunch of bobby pins, and a decorative hair clip if you want. Take the hair from the sides and pull twist it, adding hair like you would in a french braid, until you get to the back. Pin it in the center of the back of your head or off to a side if you prefer. Repeat on the other side. Then pull up the rest of your hair, in pieces, and pin into the twists to make a loose bun. Coat in hair spray, add decorative pin if desired. This updo held all day long, I think 14 hours.

I loved my hair that I had done for the wedding I was just in Saturday. I will post the photo of the back when I get home. I let the hair stylist handle it, that was the way to go.

You guys are awesome.
Future - I'd love to see it - the pic looks great from the front. I swear to you I will come out of this salon looking like 1999 if I don't go in with a set idea and even then I'm going to be really disappointed because it won't look anything like the picture.
I guess it doesn't hurt to keep the appointment, I can always cancel if these tutorials don't work out.
