We were going to get dss a basketball hoop. He's playing this winter, and h was dreaming of playing in the driveway with him, like he used to with his dad. Dss has made it clear he is NOT interested in a basketball hoop, lol. He loves matchbox cars, but he has several race tracks already. He thinks Legos are cool, but doesn't want to sit long enough to put an entire one together.
He is a little fanatical about keeping Lego sets together (he would totally superglue them if he could) so we are getting him a big box of loose Legos to be creative with.
Books.
Probably Skylanders trap force, but I'm not sold on that.
I am considering getting our old computer cleaned up and giving it to him so he's not messing up our good computer playing games. (Money wise, it's probably this OR trap force, not both)
I thought I'd look for a fun science kit-- he's into that kind of thing.

Where have you found these? I think dss would like these better than the sets, but I only ever see sets.

DS is 5.5 and he's getting mostly Legos. He said that it's all he wants. I'll also get him some books and I'm trying to come up with something that isn't Legos.

Updating his IPad to Ipad Air 2, more blocks, lego's, magnets, kinetic sand, books, toys that will break the second he opens them, a huge dinosaur thing I saw, another hot wheel raceway, and new an ITunes card since apparently he knows what that is now.
He asked for a IPhone 6. LOL.
I have 8 night to buy for, then his miracle day (insert flames), and his half birthday.
Legos is all he wants, ever. Every.Year. For everything holiday and birthday. It's the only thing he ever picks out, lol. He's really into Legends of Chima right now so probably a large Lego set and a few other smaller sets, Chima pajamas and T-shirts and various books. He also really loves maze books and activity books so I usually get him some of those, too.

santa is bringing a nintendo 3ds xl and a couple games
Which microscope are you getting? My DS (7) is dying for one, but I haven't found a kids one I like yet.
The other gifts we've planned so far are Minecraft (he will DIE) for his tablet, Magic Tree House books, a pair of the googly eye Kate Spade for Gap shoes, and Legos.
I did end up buying David a Lego building book but it's not on that list. A lot of those are complete sets or need special parts after reading the reviews. I even went to Barnes & Noble to look through them myself and yeah, they are basically Lego sets, not really true building guides. I did find one, though. It was a smaller book but I forgot what it was called. David built quite a bit from it. So, just keep that in mind!

I didn't want to get one that was too fancy or expensive. This way I won't feel bad if he loses interest. He is going to be pretty pumped when he sees it.

The 4' tall Ninja Turtle. Lego sets, but he really does sit and do them. A cool remote control car. Board games like Monopoly Jr, Clue Jr, ect That's all that DH and I have talked about so far.
MIL wants to get him a Nintendo DS. I think he's still too young and irresponsible, but it's her money and he'll be happy.
