Do you take PTO or does your company give it to you as a holiday?
I have spent most of my working years in a university or a family-owned company that both offered REALLY generous holidays, and I usually got the day after Thanksgiving off free of charge.
This is the first job where I don't have it off. #spoiled
Nope I don't work the day after Thanksgiving. Nobody wants anything from me. I usually also have the week in between Christmas and New years off as well.
OH I just thought of how soon I will be coming to see you guys!!
hehehe do you have a definite date?
Yes! Saturday before Christmas and Saturday after if you don't mind me spending the night on those days?? With #buddylove. I think you said you were in town those days?
The day after Thanksgiving is considered a site holiday at my company. I'm an hourly-rate contractor though, so I'm required to take site holidays off, but I don't get paid for them.
It's a paid holiday for us but my work is such that if we need to work a paid day off to meet a project timeline, we do. Last year I had a go-live the day after Christmas. Guess who worked Christmas Day? I was sitting on a balcony overlooking the beach while doing it though so no complaints here.

My company likes holidays. The day after T-giving is a paid one, and so are all eight days between Christmas Eve and January 2. Normally we got back to work on the 2nd, but since it's falling on a Friday they just gave it to us.

We get 2 days at Thanksgiving and 2 at Christmas as holidays. So, it's always Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Usually it's Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but since Christmas Day is a Thursday this year, it's Christmas Day and the day after Christmas.
Thankfully most of our major deadlines are in the summer and fall, because my company is also of the mindset that you work until the work is done when there's a major deadline, 40-hour work week and holidays be damned.
