Was there ever a follow-up to this? The friend who had a buyer who was scamming her and she was spending thousands on shipping with what was likely a fraudulent card. I can't remember who posted it, but I was curious if anything ever came of it.
Sorry I haven't updated you guys! Last I spoke with her she received notification from PayPal that all charges on the card are being disputed. She has a -$4800 balance in her account now. She provided PayPal with all the emails from this lady. PayPal said it can take up to a month to sort out this mess. I have no idea what will happen at this point. Neither does she. In the interim, she received an order from a third person who wants do the same type I transaction. She is halting all new orders until this is sorted out.
I did talk to her after my post on here, but she was still clueless. I can't believe she fell for this. I really, really think that she now knows this was all a scam, but she won't tell me so.
So now I'm waiting the results is the PayPal dispute and see what will happen to her. She is the one that charged the cards and wired the money to accounts, so she could be (probably is) in trouble.

I think your friend will find herself with a $4800 debt to paypal.
This makes me so sad for your friend, on several levels. Artists are so connected to their work, and I can see how it would be a really hard pill to swallow.

Well, what else could she think it was?
I meant to say that she won't admit to me that she believes she is being scammed. I think I got to her, along with the help from a mutual friend. At the same time, she still thinks that it was a legit transaction.

I doubt the popo is gonna arrest her but she's definitely gonna be owing that 4800. Did they every pick up the art "they ordered"?
If she cant admit that she was fooled by now, she's gonna end up on dr Phil owing 250,000
No one has picked up the order mainly because there is no shipper. This fake shipper is lolly gagging on giving her a pick up date for shipping. In turn the lady who ordered the art is demeaning her art that she ordered
It's all very exhausting in my opinion to be on the scammer side. To have to keep all this up. But in the end the have $4800 and my friend doesn't.

The $4800 were "shipping fees." She was supposed to ship the art to Europe or something.

I have to selfishly thank you for posting about your friend's situation. It made me extra cautious when I was selling stuff on ebay this Fall, and someone came to me asking me to accept "alternative payment" even though I expressly said I only accept payment through Paypal. They were adamant that they couldn't pay through Paypal, which made me very suspicious (why not?), and I canceled the transaction. Interestingly enough, they quickly had their family member (same last name and location) buy the item as soon as I relisted it, and paid with Paypal.
I would have only been out about $45, but I didn't take the chance after reading about your friend and being suspicious about anyone who wouldn't pay according to the terms of the listing.

I'm glad I could help at the expense of my stupid friend whom I would never have thought in a million years that she would fall for such a scam.
Her ego was so stroked because "someone" was interested in HER artwork. I don't have a passion like in my life, so I can't really understand the instant gratification she probably felt when she got the email.
