I hope it's not too early to talk Christmas decorations! If you put up a tree, how big is it? Real or artificial? I have a 4-foot pre-lit tree I put on an end table. We only have 15 ornaments or so, so it's very simple. I don't feel a need for a full-size tree yet. I start decorating for Christmas on Black Friday. I also have 3 needlepoint stockings with our names (including the dog's) embroidered on them.
We have a real tree, it's usually 6-7 ft tall. I have never had a fake tree, DHs family has had a fake tree since he was really little.
I will pull out the decorations around Dec 1st, normally I do it a little earlier but we have a huge dinner party here the last weekend of November so I will wait until after that.
We usually try and go all out on decorations. Every year we go more all out then the year before because we buy Christmas decorations the day after when it's 75% off.
@moonbeam we are tree twins! I just can't bring myself to go full size quite yet. Plus it's so easy to put up and take down.
I have upgraded slightly over the past couple years - added garland and lights to our mantle and a wreath on the front door. I definitely do not go all out for Christmas or any other holiday.
We have a 7.5 foot fake tree. I never had a real tree growing up. DH did have a real tree growing up but he says it's too much work. DH freaks out when I decorate before Thanksgiving so I slowly start bring stuff out the next few weeks so he doesn't notice. A decoration here or there until the day after Thanksgiving when we put our tree up. I may take the stuff out and go through it next weekend. I'll just leave the stuff in the spare room.

We usually put up an artificial tree. Last year we moved right before Christmas and my MIL and FIL took us to get a real tree. It was nice to have a real one, but Oh Vey the mess it made! H and I decided to just put up our artifical tree again this year and save money.
We have a 6-7 foot prelit tree. We didn't put it up last year, and I won't this year either. It makes me sad to see it up with no little one to enjoy it. H doesn't care enough to help me put it up or take it down, and the best place for it where I can see it every day would just block the door to the backyard, which we need for the pup. I was hoping to put it up this year, but it will just make me sadder.
We have like 3 trees. My husband's students just give him more trees I don't know how big they all are. The one we'll be using is 7 feet I believe. It's fake
I'd love to wait until after Thanksgiving to put it up. However, it will be up in a few weeks...no lie. I'm a "wait till after Thanksgiving person." So, this is one area I compromise on. He's sooo happy once it's up...I can't fight him

This is very timely! We are currently shopping for a fake tree. We saw a couple that we liked this weekend and will likely get one in the next week or two, if not sooner. It will be 9 ft.
In the past we only had a small fake one. I grew up with real trees every year and DH grew up with a fake tree. As much as I love a real tree this is not something DH is going to compromise on and having a tree this year is really important to me since it's C's first Christmas (although he'll only be a few days/weeks old...our RE painted the picture for us at our 6 week appointment of taking a family picture with C in front of the Christmas tree). I'm actually really embracing it and am so excited to have a regular size tree this year!
Decorations will go up either the weekend after Thanksgiving or Dec 1st...we are hosting Thanksgiving so I feel realy weird having any Christmas decorations up. Typically I'm a no Christmas until Thanksgiving is past but I would totally make an exception this year since we don't have any guarantees of when I will go into labor.
We have a fake tree that I think is about 7 ft. It's a hand me down pre-lit one from the IL's.
I normally do my decorating the first weekend in December. I don't have a ton of stuff, so it doesn't take long to set out. The longest project is by far the tree because we have two containers of ornaments.
We live in an apartment and I wouldn't know where to dispose of a real tree so we bought our first fake tree last Christmas. It's 7.5 feet tall and it's so beautiful. I love it! We will be putting it up tomorrow actually. My dad is visiting this week and I want him to see our lovely tree so I want it up before he arrives on Thursday haha! My In laws are coming in 2 weeks for Thanksgiving and want it up for them to see also!
Whenever we have a bigger home and one that has garbage by the street or easy access to the dump or something we will go chop down our own I love real trees and how they smell! <3 Christmas is my favorite time of year!
We have a 6 foot pre-lit tree. It's okay, a little sparse though in terms of branches, but it works for now. I always had real trees growing up, and hopefully one day H and I will start getting one each year. I have tons of ornaments, some from my childhood, and lots that I have accumulated over the years as an adult. I always get an ornament on vacation, it's a fun reminder of good times as I put it on the tree every year. I do other decorating too, like arrangements on shelves and tables, etc. we always did outdoor lights at our house, now that we're in an apartment I might put a few things on the balcony.
ETA I don't decorate until after thanksgiving, usually the Sunday after, since we are out of town for thanksgiving
We have a pre-lit 7ft skinny fake tree. I bought it for my apartment in college and it works well for us at home. I had real trees growing up but DH is very allergic and I am fine with fake.
I want to buy new decorations for it, but I haven't decided what kind yet. I made some ornaments for myself a couple years ago and I would like to make some more.
I am SO EXCITED about putting up my tree that I will do it as soon as possible. Last year I didn't put one up in protest of my house not being ready (we never planned on renovations to take so long!) so I am ready to decorate everything. Usually I wait until beginning of December.
We have a 9' artificial, that's narrow, only about 45" at the bottom. I would love/prefer a real tree, but our house is so small (with tall ceilings) so this fits better plus I still get a "big" tree. I'm not gonna lie, it's super easy too. I'd like to go back to a real tree if we ever move.
I always get a real wreath for inside though so we still get the smell. Oh also, bc I'm in FL you can't get a real tree until like 12/10 bc it won't last in this heat. I like to put mine out the weekend after TG.
I grew up with a real tree, but we use a fake once since we typically take a trip to visit H's family in December and we don't want the tree to die. Also, the dogs would probably drink the water. It's seven feet tall.
We typically put up the tree on Black Friday, but we are doing it the weekend before Thanksgiving this year. I am very excited. I LOVE Christmas.
We have two full size pre-lit artificial trees (I'm not sure how tall they are! I should measure this year). I also have a small 2 ft tree I put on the kitchen island. The kitchen tree has white lights and gets red and gold small glass ornaments. The family room tree has multicolored lights and gets all different kinds of ornaments- from our childhoods and on. This tree is cheaper and more sparse than our other tree, but we literally put hundreds of ornaments on it plus beaded garland, so it always looks full.
The living room tree is our fullest tree and has white lights. It gets red, silver and and white glass ball ornaments with a few other types of red, white and/or silver ornaments mixed in. Lately I've been putting glittery red ribbon through it, but in the past have also done red beds or silver bows.
We usually get them up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love it!
I've never had a real tree in my life. My inlaws get real, but honestly, the smell makes me itch. Plus I'd never want to deal with the mess of the needles. And honestly, I'm a perfectionist and I can adjust my fake trees to be perfectly shaped.

I'm excited to get our tree up this year. After Christmas last year we got a 9.5 foot prelit tree on clearance. In the past we had a 6.5 foot and we have both almost always had a fake tree. I think maybe twice growing up we had a real funny. Funnily enough, my parents actually started getting real the last couple years.
I'm going to put it up before Thankgiving this year (hiding from flames). We found out last night my parents are coming for Thanksgiving and I want the house to look special.
Small apartment dweller here and we always get a real tree because there's no room to store a fake one! We usually get one that's like 5 feet tall.
s/o question: Do you decorate your tree with a theme or color or is it a mishmash? Ours is a mishmash. I have hand-me-downs from my mom, some handmade ornaments, some bits I've bought on sale after the holidays, and ornaments we've picked up from vacations. I love unwrapping the vacation ornaments.

We don't put a tree up because there's no room. Plus, cats.. haha. I have a small fiberoptic one that I love but the cats always try to eat it
Growing up we always had a real tree (usually one of the softer needle ones). My parents got an artificial one a few years ago because it was getting too hard for them to go themselves to get it now. Oh well, it's a tree! Maybe they will start again when baby is old enough to appreciate it
bah humbug! I hate Christmas. I have an artificial 6 ft. tree. It goes up no sooner than the December 22nd and comes down that night (Dec. 25th) after the kids are in bed. If I didn't have kids I would just skip the whole thing.

We just bought our tree today (artificial, 9 ft, pre-lit)! It should arrive at the end of next week. We couldn't view it in the store (only sold online) so DH wants to put it up when it arrives. We are hosting Thanksgiving so I'm a little hesitant (plus I'm a "no Christmas until after Thanksgiving) but also thinking it might be a good idea just so it's done in the event that C decides to arrive early. Either way, I'm excited that a decision has been made and it's another thing off our never ending list!
