A local college has reported a gun on campus and locked it down. Other than canceling evening classes they're not really giving any clue what's going on.

That's a long time to go without releasing any information! I hope that means that they quickly got the situation under control and that no one was harmed.

Turns out it was pretty much nothing:
"Iowa Central Community College's main campus in Fort Dodge was put on lockdown Monday afternoon after a student reported a group of males entered her dorm and displayed a firearm.
Fort Dodge police responded to Iowa Central Community College in regards to an altercation on campus, a press release said. A female told police that a group of males entered her dorm room while she and her friends were in the room. She said at least one of the males displayed a firearm.
No one was injured and the males left the room shortly after, the release said.
Students reported receiving a text message from the school Monday afternoon reading, "Reported gun on Fort Dodge campus approx 3:30 p.m., FDPD on scene, lock down enforced until further notice."
"The entire time I was just a little bit nervous, but then again I knew that we would be ok. We're all just locked inside a building,” ICCC sophomore Oscar Obara said.
During the lockdown, all campus building’s exterior doors were locked and only authorized personnel were allowed inside.
Evidence obtained during the investigation led police to believe it was an isolated incident on campus.
“At this time we have no reason to believe that anyone else is in danger on the ICCC campus and that the individuals involved are no longer in the area,” police said in the release.
The lockdown was lifted around 6:15 p.m. after police gave the "all clear."
“We're still working through the investigation to determine if there was gun or what was used,” said Asst. Police Chief Robert Porter, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.
An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department at 515-573-1426 or Crime Stoppers at 515-573-1444.
Campus officials released a statement Monday afternoon:
"On Monday, November 10 at 3:30 p.m. Administration of Iowa Central Community College received a report of a gun on campus. The campus implemented its lockdown procedures and the Iowa Central Security and Fort Dodge Police are investigating the report. Further information will be provided as it is received."
The college's website posted, "all evening classes are cancelled," but no information about the lockdown."
