Anyone have dry hair? What product(s) do you use for it?
My hair has been so dry the last few weeks. It's thin and flat and I can't use a lot of product. It's also greasy so it has to get washed. I am going to try and skip washing here and there when I have a chance.
I also used Wen for a while which made a huge difference. Because of the price I tried other kinds and found I really like this. I now like it even better then I did the Wen.
My hair has started to get oily. For day to day routine this summer I used shampoo over all of my hair then only put conditioner on the bottom half of my hair. I would comb it through with a wide tooth comb while in the shower so it gets a little to the top of my hair but not as much.

I think we have similar hair. Mine gets greasy on top if I don't wash it for a few days, but the rest of it is so super dry! I usually use the Aussie 3 minute miracle stuff maybe once a week or so, and I have the Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner. I'm cheap, so I haven't really tried much else but I'm interested in recommendations too. I did get some that spray oil stuff (I think it's Garnier, it says it's for hair, face and body) and I don't recommend it. It makes my hair super greasy and stringy looking, even if I only use it sparingly on the ends. I do however like it for my skin when I remember to use it. It does smell really good!
I use Coconut oil or a Pureology hair mask. Both work very well for when I feel my hair is getting dry. I use both overnight and wash out in the morning. The coconut oil spreads a lot so you don't need very much of it. You have to rinse it super well though or it will leave your hair kind of oily.

This. When I shampoo that stuff out, I usually shampoo, rinse, repeat.
But my hair is still dry so who knows.
HoneySpider Right now I'm using conditioner (keeping it on while I shave then rinsing), leave in conditioner before I blow dry, and following that up with a John Frieda Styling cream. It's still dry. Let me know if you have any luck with the above!
Coconut oil mask. I just have dry ends, so I apply the oil to my ends, then twist it all up in a bun. I leave it there for hours if I can, usually on a day where I'm just bumming around the house and not going out in public. Wash with a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner. I always use something moisturizing on my ends after getting out of the shower, whether I blow dry or not.
I am using the Suave Keratin shampoo and conditioner, that seems to help with dryness. I used to think my hair was too greasy to skip washing, but I tried skipping a day here and there and it was okay. The more I did it, it seems like my hair produces less grease now. The less frequent washing helps me with the dryness too. Also, dry shampoo does wonders on the non washing days. It absorbs any oil, and also gives my hair a lot of body on top, so it isn't so flat.

I've tried dry shampoo multiple times and it never works. What brand do you use?
HoneySpider Right now I'm using the suave keratin one. In the past I've used tresseme, both worked. Did it not work for you as in didn't absorb oil? Or left a residue? I have friends that swear by rubbing baby powder into their roots instead of dry shampoo. I've never tried it, but maybe that would work?

Both...it always seems to make my hair even grimier than before.
I've tried the baby powder thing and all it did was make a big mess!

What kinds have you used?
BTW, it's not designed to make your hair feel clean, it's designed to make your hair LOOK clean. Mine typically feels grimy with dry shampoo as well, and it should, because it is grimy. But it doesn't look it. I've had coworkers who have told me they couldn't tell I was going on 4 days since my last shampoo, thanks to dry shampoo. But oh, I can feel it.

It definitely doesn't look clean, it looks grimy.
I know I've used Tresemme, I can't remember what else (it's been a while). I recently got a new Garnier one because I picked it up cheap but I haven' used it yet.

Garnier sucks. Pretty much all Garnier products make my hair look dirty, even if it's freshly washed.
I use Suave most of the time. It's cheap, like 3 dollars a can, so I am willing to use as much as I need. Or Batiste is good too, about 7-8 dollars a can. There is a formula for dark hair too.
Try putting it in at night, a lot of it, and don't rub it in. Go to bed, and it will soak up the oil overnight.
I think you have to try different kinds to find what works for you. The ones I use can be found in the drugstore, but if those don't work for you either, I have some salon brands that are good too.
Also, I had to train my hair to not look grimy in the second or third day. It took a few weeks of me looking gross, but I eventually got to the point that I'm only washing every 3-4 days.

pooh8402 I didn't like the Suave one, at least for my hair. It left residue and didn't seem to look clean even after rubbing it or brushing it. I use one from Salon Grafix (cheap at Target) or something like that now. No residue which is awesome. Still not perfect, but it's better than the others I've tried!
I agree with pooh8402 that it definitely makes your hair feel grimy to the touch. HoneySpider maybe try using the dry shampoo on the second day with your hair up? On days when I need a lot of it, I usually wear my hair up, it doesn't usually look good enough to wear down.
My usual routine is day 1 wash hair blow dry, flat iron. Day 2 maybe a small touch of dry shampoo only if it needs it, curl with curling iron, wear down. Day 3 use a generous amount of dry shampoo, wear in a ponytail. It took months though to "train" my hair to be able to go this long without washing though! At first it was definitely greasy on day 2.
A ton of people recommended it on ML one day. It smells awesome and I like that you can get it in brunette so my roots won't look white. A lot of times I'll put it in the night before but it works awesome either way.
