Just curious. My family used to eat at around 4. DH's family (who we celebrate with) eats at 12. It's DINNER, people. Noon is not an acceptable time for DINNER!
My family usually does around 4. My inlaws do 1 - 1:30. For me that time sucks, because I can't make it from breakfast to 1 pm with out food! They don't do appetizers either.

My family always ate early, like 2ish, in part, so the relatives could get on the road before dark. It was nice b/c we would take a walk after dinner, then have dessert. If I was up for it I would start decorating for Christmas that night
We're serving at 3:30. People are coming over at 1pm for apps and football. I like it to be an all day affair.
DH's family seems to serve around 5 or 6pm, which personally, I think is too late.
Growing up we ate at noon, and my family still does, but the past few years we have done Thanksgiving with DH's family with me cooking. I've been doing a 4 pm meal time, which works well for me s far as getting all of the cooking done goes. We do a late breakfast, and by 4 we are ready to eat the big meal
It used to be 1pm. The last couple years, and likely the next couple, it will be at 3:30 so my kids can nap as usual and not turn into monsters before we get to dessert.

Around 2:30 for my family. We treat it more like a late lunch because we host an open house in the evening and like to have some down time before everyone comes over.
Who cares if it's lunch or dinner? The whole day revolves around food.

at my
gpa's - 3-4p
mom's - 4-6p
dad's - 4-5p
sister's (CA) 3-5p
when I host 3-4p
xh's fam - 3-4p
one year my gma bumped up turkey day dinner to 2pm and my mom was LIVID !!! (since they NEVER do dinner that early, my mom thought it was a way to shoo us away from dinner) as we were driving down from SF to LA to be there for thanksgiving. we left at some ungodly hr from SF and rolled into LA JUST before 2p ... they were running 'behind' schedule and we didn't sit down until almost 4p !
when my mom first got wind of the 2pm dinner she asked if they could wait for us until we got there in case we hit a bad pocket of traffic or something - my gma's response 'well if you're not here by 2, we'll make plates for you and keep them warm in the oven until you get here ...' WTF ?!?

I like to do it early (around 2ish), more time for digesting such a big meal. That said, this year we'll be doing it closer to dinner time (like 6pm) because that's what my mom prefers.
My family it's DINNER time (5 or later). DHs family does it at noon and it makes me super irritated. Mainly because DHs family moved to our city & now I'm expected to uphold THEIR traditions...AKA, I'm hosting the meals & they waltz in with their store bought crap then pick at the food for maybe an hour & leave. I think it's pretty rude, at least from my standpoint. I clean, get up before dawn & start cooking & then there isn't any appreciation or even the courtesy to stay & hang out or help clean up. This is the last year I'm doing it...from now on its at dinner time or they can host.

My family 1-2 H's family like 6pm? He didn't tell me the first year so I didn't eat breakfast (we went to his Grandma's at 11) and OMG starved all day.
