Random: H and I had a long talk last weekend about our finances, and we were able to budget out a little bit of money we can afford to spend for my birthday and for him to get me a gift. Now I have to decide if there's anything I want to ask for........ lol.

I am! It's snowing again so I don't know if I want to venture out, lol. Just did some dishes that H said he was going to do and I was sick of seeing them sit there. Did some cleaning in the kitchen too then realized we are out of the Swiffer wet jet pad things. We just have the dry ones. Grr. H was on the computer, came out and picked up like 2 things on the floor (I think to be "helpful") and plopped down on the couch. I have more things I want done but my back is still killing me. It would be nice if H could just do some things around here. I hate having to nag him. I want to do laundry but he always leaves the last load in or on the dryer and I don't want to deal with it!
estrellita - That sounds like a legitimate reason to be crabby! How would he react if you handed him a list? "These are the things I need you to do today."
There's no snow here but it's 26 degrees outside. H wants to take me shoe shopping, but I have pretty much zero interest in leaving the house until the temperature gets above freezing. Talk about a FWP. Haha.

I finished sewing my stockings this morning.
H helped me trim our dogs nails. Our little terrier hates it and I accidently clipped one so it bled. I feel awful and H is yelling at me. I couldnt help it! She moved right when I went to clip the nail.
rockinrobyn - I hate it when that happens! Poor puppy. Half of our dog's nails are black so I always get really stressed out about accidentally cutting them too short.
My BFF got engaged last night!!! This will be her second marriage; her first husband died 4 years ago. I'm so excited for her, she deserves so much happiness. I'm also happy that her son will have a father.
My old coworker and good friend texted me last night to apologize for not making it to my shower or sending a gift yet (which is silly- I just wanted an excuse to see my Ft Hood loves again!). She told me she found out a couple of days ago that she's PREGNANT! She's 40 and has been trying with her current H for about 4 years. She found out on the same day that her only son left for Army boot camp. I'm so happy for her

katespade I should make a list. He's usually fine doing things when I ask him to or when I start doing something. He had done laundry and put none of my stuff away, so I was doing that. I asked him to move the stuff he left on the dryer and he did. He even put it away! I just get sick of having to ask all the time. I know I'm bad about cleaning up as I go too (like washing a pot/pan/knife/something that doesn't go in the dishwasher right away instead of letting it sit in the sink) but I'm never going to improve if he can't make an effort either. I think "nesting" is starting to kick in because I don't care how tired or sore I am, things need to get done around here!
estrellita - Could you do a weekly list? Like, these are the things we both need to do every Saturday morning? That way you don't have to nag because he has the same list that he can refer to at the same time every week to keep up with things. H tends to leave my laundry for me to hang up, too, and it drives me bonkers. But he does wash the dishes for both of us so I tend to let the laundry thing go.
rockinrobyn My dog's nails are all black too. One time two years ago I clipped one too short, and now she's terrified of it. We have to exercise her first, then bribe her with treats while my H holds her still in order to trim her nails.
katespade She doesn't like the sound of the showerhead, so the rinsing portion is stressful for her. She does love to be rubbed during the shampooing part though .
estrellita, you sound like my husband, and I am your husband in this scenario. I just don't think about it, or I think "oh I'll get to it later" then forget. It annoys me when my H nags, but I also know that without the nagging, I won't pick up stuff or sweep or do the dishes.
We used to have a dry erase calendar in the kitchen that I would write my work schedule on, then on my days off, would write down certain chores. That way, he knew I had plans to do this on this day. We lost the calendar in the last couple of moves, so I need to get a new one.
@moonbeam - Our dog acts like we're torturing him. We have to trick him into the shower and then he spends the whole time glaring and trying to figure out if there is a way for him to escape. You would think he would love the shampooing part, but he acts like he hates the whole thing and we're just awful. Silly dog. lol.

katespade and pooh8402 I think a chore list would be helpful. I've been that way in the past, forgetting to do things or leaving them until I have the energy/motivation to do it (doesn't happen, haha). I think it would be helpful for both of us to see the things that need to get done daily or weekly and if we have to, split up the chores so we know exactly what to do. I've thought about doing that before but I didn't want to be too naggy or act like I'm H's mom or something. But it might help me too!
estrellita I get it, I'm nesting too. The mess between trying to pack/move and not even starting the nursery (haven't even picked out furniture yet!) or finished my registry. Yeah.. I kept getting overwhelmed and crying this week cause I didn't know what to work on and couldn't get as much done as I wanted to.

bk1 I definitely know how you feel! It kinda reminds me of planning a wedding. I was trying to do everything and I got so overwhelmed that I just didn't want to do it anymore. I think I might have to delegate some things to H like I did then. I'm trying to do little things here and there, like I signed us up for our classes last night to get that off my plate. You will get everything done! Just take it one thing at a time!
We've never clipped our lab's nails ourselves. We just take him to the $5 groomer down the street. We even bought the nail trimmers but are too chicken to use them.
I'm around too! I worked for a few hours today, but now at home and I do not plan on leaving. It's so cold and just started snowing! H works all evening so I get some alone time which will be nice actually!
I have a bunch of stuff to do this evening, but really am not motivated to do anything!
We moved a bunch of stuff today! FIL and BIL worked on the fence and got a lot done, but still have a bit to finish. DH, me, my mom, and my brother worked on moving over furniture and stuff. My mom and I got 3 loads in each of our cars and brother and DH got 2 trailer loads moved. Our bedroom is down to just the bed. Dressers, bookshelves, and all that kind of stuff got moved.
Next weekend we will move out for good!!!! AHH!! We considered doing it this weekend but we don't have internet set up at the new house yet and decided we wanted to wait until we got it going. This way I can work on unpacking the new house and finish packing the old house. It'll be kinda nice to have time to spread it out.
This also meant that I had to bring a laundry basket of clothes back from new to old house so we had socks and underwear. I also had to send DH back to the new house so we had towels. Oops

We were super lazy this morning and just did stuff around the house. After lunch we went to Ikea to return some stuff and also of course got new stuff. Also went to a giant mall near Ikea and out to dinner.
ginkgoleaf - I love lazy days like that. H and I spent the morning laying around the house until he ran us a bath and gave me a massage. Then we went shoe shopping, stopped at Costco for pizza, and spent the rest of the day watching movies on the couch.
ginkgoleaf We drove past that mall on our way home from dinner tonight. I even commented in the car that it had been a few years (since college I think!) since I had last been to that mall. I'm considering a trip up there to shop over my winter break.
We just called the cops because 2 guys were fighting out in our parking lot. I have no idea why. I heard arguing for a while so I peeked outside when I was done doing dishes and saw the guys pushing and hitting each other on the ground. A girl came out and was yelling at them. Of course they ran inside just before the cop pulled around the corner. H let them in the building and they followed the wet footsteps to see if they could find them, lol. Sigh. Hope the idiots get the hint not to loudly fight right outside our window in the middle of the night!
bk1 - How excited are you to be done moving soon???
You have no idea! It's been 18 months since we bought the house. We are sooo close now! It's weird to think about leaving our old house. We have been doing this process for so long it's weird to think soon we will actually be living in the new house.
