What goes with a blue skirt?

My wardrobe is stale. I feel frumpy in about 90% of my clothes, esp now that I've lost my baby weight. I'm slowly trying to add new pieces that catch my eye and update my look, but I'm unsure of how to make my outfits trendier, KWIM?

I just bought this skirt, and I love the color so much. I'm trying to think of tops I can pair it with that are trendy, yet professional.



I love the look of a tucked in top, but I'm not sure what works well with pencil skirts.
Also, belt? Would you do a skinny belt with this?

Kelly green, peach, yellow, white, hot pink, purple. I think just about anything will go with it. Just have to find the right shade of a color that compliments it.

I'd wear a skinny belt with it if you're going to tuck in the shirts.

What kind of shirts work? Like button downs?

Seriously, I'm like a 3rd grader when it comes to making new fashion choices. I'm used to my capris and cotton tops, but now I just sigh when I look at myself in the mirror every morning!

Oy, you guys would have a field day with my wardrobe.

This is why I hesitate to buy new things b/c I get overwhelmed with pairing them.

I have a similar pencil skirt in that color and I wear anything and everything with it. Black, white, yellow, green, various multicolor prints, leopard print, etc. Don't limit yourself to button downs for work, there are all sorts of dressy tops out there that work. Try checking out Loft's site and getting ideas for different styles of tops that may work for you.

I lurk and see your OOTD's and envy your ability to put together trendy and colorful things. I guess I just need to suck it up and start trying on things to get an idea of what works on me.
