International Families Get Fit Challenge

"IF Get Fit Challenge" doesn't really convey what I want it to mean! I took last week off during the big brewhaha but we're settled into our new home so here we are!

Have you been workin' on your fitness as planned lately?

Muffie – lose 76 pounds by March 2012.
Snowyowl – lose 53 pounds
oneslybookworm – lose 10 pounds by March, continue eating healthier and get back into running
Ktkl09 – maintain healthy weight
ukyankee - work on getting fit
cakenbake - get down to 130 pounds and to finish a 5k by one year postpartum
Coffee & Cream - go to the gym four times per week and maintain my current weight
Valerie - lose 20kgs
meggers5 - be down to 160 pounds
nmlahaie - exercise at least 4 times a week and maintain current weight or gain weight in muscle
Publius – stay fit and exercise 6 days a week
azure_azure - exercise 3 times a week and to tone stomach muscles
sewatkins - Go to at least 3 yoga classes a week, start running again
BlushingRose – get to a healthy BMI, lose 85.9lbs in total
WhereInTheWorld - run a marathon
Traveling Turtle - To exercise 4 times a week
MintChocoChip – Lose 10 lbs.
wise_rita – get into a healthy BMI range
ashleynicoles – work out 3x per week
Just Peachy - excercise 3-5 times a week, lose 20 pounds by mid August
risainthesky- get to 120lbs and run a 5k by August 2011.

dulcemariamar1 – Exercise 3 times a week and tone up.
EnidFalcor - run 2x per week, yoga 2x per week, eat vegan 2 meals per day
aMrsin09 - pilates 3x a week to work up to every day, eat enough protein, get through the warm up of "30 day shred," lose 20lbs.
sushisamba - eat better and work out at least 3 times per week
plainjanie1 - lose 15 lbs., eat better and tone body
Nanner - lose 30 lbs. by October 18th
PittPurple - run a 5k in under 40 minutes
Kimchi Canuck - lost 15-20 lbs. by September, exercise 3-4 times a week, and eat more fruits and veg.
LoopyNoodle - run a marathon in 2012
Kackle02 - eat healthier and to workout consistently
Laurimi - lose 30 lbs.
Sutikama - lose 10 lbs. by September 9, 2011.
gblake - lose 28 lbs.
elenetx - lose 20 lbs.
LMBCI - go back down to a size 2 (so lose one dress size), and run a 1/2 marathon.
Deshi2013 - lose 10 lbs. by eating healthy and working out 3x per week
NLFoodie - lose 1 dress size
MyBlueAngel19 - work out twice a week and tone up arms and abs.
The Irish Gal - lose 15 lbs by May 15th, eliminate unhealthy snacks and treats, cycle to work all but 1 day and get back into
pilates.
Stellina+Amour - Work out three times per week
rpic81 - Run a 5k and tone legs and stomach before going to Florida in August 2012
doctoranda - Run 10 races before the end of 2012 and go down one dress size
RyansBelovedBridge - Finish C25K by June 1st and tone up

QOTW: How often do you weigh yourself? Do you put a lot of thought into "that number" or do you look at other things like fitness level, how your clothes fit, etc?

Things are going great! I've been working out ... :::dramatic music starts::: .... EVERYDAY! My prince charming hubby in his infinite former-athlete wisdom is so happy to train me and finally see me [somewhat] focused. Rita, could you change my goal, please? The H just listed a whole series of goals but let's just shrink it to this: work out 5 times per week and increase muscle mass. Thank you!

QOTD: I never paid attention to my weight, haven't weighed myself in at least two years. I'm probably around 55 kg now and wear the same old size.

agh no. I haven't been doing anything :/ And I probably won't be doing anything before the end of the month because we are going on vacation.

QOTW: I weigh myself every month or so. Our scale doesn't work so I do it at my inlaws. I go by how my clothes fit and how I look naked

Oh dear... today is the deadline day for my goal... and no, I didn't achieve it...

However, I got half way there in the space of the first month which I was happy with. And although I haven't lost any more since the end of March I also haven't gained any. I am trying to get back on track in the last few days, though bookclub last night didn't help!!!

The good part is that I have been good with exercise. Cycle to work all but one day a fortnight. Pilates every week. Some walking too. And I even cycled to book club last night rather than drive (ok, less than 15 minute cycle each way, but still...). Last week I was supposed to go for a walk with a friend. She pulled out last minute but I still went for my walk and in fact did better than if she had been with me - 7k in just over an hour! Average of 9mins per km walking.

QOTW: I try to limit my weigh in to once a week. Even though I haven't lost weight in the last few weeks my clothes are fitting a bit better and I have noticed that I am toning up a bit more.

Now I'm off to think of my next goal... lose the last 7lb of my original goal by 12th June? (next bookclub night!!)

QOTW: I never weigh myself. When I committed to yoga 6 days a week, I quickly learned nothing derails me more than seeing the numbers go up from muscle building rather than go down. My goals these days tend to be more about my practice and what my body looks like. And, overall, how healthy I feel.

I don't even have a scale here, mainly because I'm too cheap to buy one. It works out for the best, though. I can tell if I'm getting squishy (-ier), I don't need a scale to tell me that.
