Oh wow. I started using it a few weeks ago and then one day my lips were swollen, hurt, and were almost blistered. I basically stopped using anything but vasoline or aquaphor and haven't had a problem since, but haven't gone back to using it either.
At the time I chalked it up to having been traveling in a different climate over that time, but this makes more sense given the swolleness and blisters. And I was using the lemon one.
I had this too. Back in 2005. My doctor said I was imagining it. Years later I found a forum of other people with the same thing and felt so redeemed. I can't believe that vile stuff is still on the market
I am so embarrassed and in pain right now. And many people complained they had no issue and then suddenly they did.
I'm having issues today/this's week too. I thought it was something else because I was fine until this week. The same thing happened to me a few months ago when I was using eos. I can't believe I didn't think to google. Thanks for the tip!
Holy crap! I just started using EOS Sweet Mint before bed about a week ago. No reaction ... but after reading all of this, I'm more than happy to find something new instead of just taking my chances.
OMG. I take zyrtec daily. And about a month ago I was a little more miserable than usual, so I stopped taking zyrtec and tried something different (benadryl and allegra). I broke out in hives all over my neck, chest and arms. I could NOT figure it out. I got put on steroids, etc and was told to take the steriods WITH the zyrtec. And it finally went away.
I bet it was stopping zyrtec all along. WTFFFFF
Yup. That's exactly what it was.
My palms and the bottom of my feet get bright red and super itchy. My feet feel like I'm walking on pins and needles to the point where I can barely walk. It's miserable. So either I need to be in severe pain for 2 weeks to give it up, or continue to take zyrtec daily. Since zyrtec is the only thing that touches my allergies, guess which I choose?
If you really wanted to quit taking it, you can slowly decrease the dosage -- half a pill for a week or so, then a quarter for a while, etc. They split easily in a pill splitter, and then the withdrawal is lessened or eliminated in most people. (I just keep taking it daily too, but good to know anyway.)
I tried using this a while ago but my lips were tingly/slightly painful after so I stopped using it. I hadn't heard about other people having this problem (and worse!). Sorry about your lips, hope they're feeling better soon!
I'm refraining from making a Napoleon Dynamite joke.
I just bought a four pack at Ulta and have been using the mint. I love the shape of them but was feeling like they didn't work as well as the Burts Bees I used in the past. I got so scaly and sore in the corners of my mouth they bled! I could not figure it out.
My five year old uses EOS too. I liked that she didnt need to twist anything up and it was easy for her to apply. Ugh.
I just stumbled on this thread on the app and it set off a lightbulb for me.
Last summer I got what I thought was a cold sore in the corner of my mouth, but over the next two days my lips started to swell and peel, crack and blister. I looked like my mouth got attacked by bees, my lips BURNED, and I could hardly open my mouth wide enough to take bites of food, and had to drink with a straw.
After the swelling and blistering started I went to urgent care, and they prescribed me a steroid ointment, which helped immensely.
But seeing this thread made me remember before that happened I had bought the EOS lemon lip balm. I remember throwing out all my lip balms and I was said about that one because it was brand new and I had hardly used it. Now I realize that may have been the whole cause of my problem! I'm never buying that brand ever again.
