I voted that neither of us care, but then after I clicked that I don't know if it's true. He hasn't watched any of the events on TV, except for maybe turning it on as background noise. I don't know if he's following it online though.
My H and I watch the Olympics together. We both like watching swimming, basketball, and a variety of the other sports if the US is playing. He doesn't like watching gymnastics with me, but that's about it. We both watched Equestrian Dressage just to make fun of it (a la Stephen Colbert)
I feel like the Olympics caters to people who aren't actully into sports.
LOL
kind of true - my H is SUPER into sports, but he doesn't seem to care much about the Olympics. I said both of us are the same - we don't not care, we just don't put in the effort to record it and/or watch it. Both of us sort of keep tabs on whats happening though.

I really disagree with this statement, for me the Olympics showcase athletic competitiveness, the "athletic spirit," as well as national pride. Blah, I'm feeling cheesy. But the Olympics is like watching any sports (pro or collegiate) just w/o the excessive drinking and less anger towards the other team/fans.

Haha. I know there are some people who are into sports that watch it (like you), but most of the people I know who are seriously gungho into it and get really upset about 'spoilers' and have to go home to watch it or dvr it are people who don't seem to follow any other sports avidly throughout the year.
So not everyone, but I feel the majority of people who are watching the Olympics tend to be people who aren't as in to sports.
like when people get into the World Cup... same thing!
Mgoss: Did you see about the d/q'd badmitten players who tried to lose on purpose to easier matches? Talk about not being competitive athletes!
I hadn't! I read a couple of articles on the scandal, and I'm not that shocked. It reminded me of the Sumo Wrestling cheating that was featured in Freakanomics. Cheaters totally take away from the awesome-sauce of watching sports, poo on them :@
