Are they offering any free/discounted items today, or is this purely for people who support their gay marriage stance?
My local news said that the Wisconsin Family Council is handing out gift cards to people waiting in line. I'm not sure if the restaurant itself is actually giving anything away.

I also thought that it was interesting that in one of the photos our local news station posted online, the line for the drive-thru was wrapped around the building and blocking traffic in the street, but there were many empty parking spaces in the lot. Apparently people will wait in line for hours for their anti-gay chicken sandwich, but they can't walk 20 feet.

Just purely for people who support their gay marriage stance
It is also not in any way being 'run' by CFA, and their owner/operators were instructed to run today like any other day and not discuss it being CFA Appreciation Day.
There is one about a quarter mile up the street from my office and there is a line of cars in the street in front of my office waiting to go in. Crazy.
It really boggles my mind that so many people are so vocal about not wanting gays to marry, and that they're getting away with it.
Can you imagine people saying today, with basically no repercussions, "My interpretation of the Bible leads me to believe that women shouln't be granted the right to vote"? Or "Black people getting married presents a threat to my family"? Of course people still have the constitutional right to say these things in public if they wish, but they'd be raked over the coals for it!
How have we as a society not gotten to this point yet with gay marriage?
As far as Facebook, I haven't seen any CFA-related news on my feed today. Come to think of it, I haven't really seen much mentioned about it at all since this whole mess started. But I don't know if that's just because there really aren't any CFAs in New Jersey, or because most of the shit-stirrers on my FB feed have been hidden for a long time now.
I have a friend who is going not because he supports their stance (he claims he is for gay marriage) but is going for freedom of speech purposes.
I honestly don't understand this logic. On a related note, NPR had a story about CFA Appreciation Day this morning, and it made me sad that the GLAAD spokesperson they interviewed had to reiterate that first amendment rights don't mean that a person can say whatever s/he wants with no repercussions.* I know that yes, there really are people who don't comprehend that, but it always makes me want to weep.
*The GLAAD spokesperson had to say this because apparently people are saying that the negative reaction to Cathy's comments means his right to free speech is being oppressed. Again,

I told him his money would be better spent donated to the ACLU.
I don't understand the free speech argument. Cathay is free to express his views on gay marriage and donate money to groups that support his position, just as I am free to express my views and not support businesses that oppose them.

This irks me a lot...but I think the thing to remember is that there could be just as many, or more, people who DON'T go. It's just that an absence of people doesn't necessarily make for reportable, visual impact the way a crowd of people does.
It's one day...and I'm willing to bet a lot of the most crowded locations are geographically located in places where a widespread anti-gay sentiment is not all that surprising. There may be plenty of locations that aren't in the news, where business has been hit because it's in a more liberal area.
I honestly think the people in those lines today are on the wrong side of history...they are coming out of the woodwork on this one day, but in the big picture, they are more and more outnumbered everyday.
I'm curious to see what (if anything) CFA does with all the extra money they have coming in today.
I might just fall over and die if they choose to offer an olive branch in the form of a monetary donation. Even if they only do it to get rid of the profits from today's event.

The line my friend showed was in a very liberal area of a blue state. I don't know if people drove out of their way to go to it (we only have 20 or so CFA in the state and most are in South Jersey) but there ya go.

Pretty sure its in response to the Boston and Chicago mayors' stance on CFA applying for permits in their cities.

Yeah, but I still think they are coming out of the woodwork and going out of their way to go to CFA on one day. If the lines started looking like that every day, that's when I'd start to lose hope for humanity, lol.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you could round up all the people who purposely didn't go to CFA today and take a picture for the news...I'm just willing to bet that would be a MUCH larger group. Okay, maybe not in MS or something, but in NJ at least.

Mine are.
I'm in Atlanta on the south side and I pass 4 CFA's on my way to commute.
On a normal day the line is usually wrapped around once ( with the double drive through). Today its backing up traffic on major streets. Kinda glad I have to work late tonight and not deal with this and normal afternoon traffic.
Completely expected down here. Most of our CFA's have fast food and full service sides and Wednesday night is Breakfast Buffet night which is already popular and packed so I can only imagine how absolutely crazy tonight will be.
