The book disgusts me. Seriously. The author is surprised by the outlash. Like what? Poor Barbie gets a virus and here come 2 men to save the day! Yay! No. She should have either switched it so a dude got a virus and she came in and saved his ass OR, at the very least, had one of the helping techs be a female.
I also can't believe it took 5 years to be yanked. Gross.
Like I posted on CEP the other day, way to tell girls that they can just get men to fix their problems for them. It is okay, though. They're just girls, teehee! What do they know about computers, anyway? Don't worry, you'll still get credit for all the work you didn't do.
I saw this. I'm majorly insulted because that's what I do for a living. Plus, everything in that book isn't even being a computer engineer either. It's all tech work. The whole thing is infuriating and sad.

I think that part might have bothered me more than it should have.
I just read the gizmodo article on the book and it pisses me off so much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugh! Talk about perpetuating the stereotype.
Reminds me of the time I was talking to some guys in class about our homework assignment and one of them said to me "Why are you worried about this homework assignment? Can't you just flash your smile and get someone to do it for you?". RAGE!
This reminds me of the Barbie shows on netflix. They portray barbie as a really really dumb blonde and I won't let my DD watch them anymore.
I don't have a problem with Barbie in general, but sometimes I have to shake my head and ask WTF someone was thinking.
The tv show/series is HORRIBLE. So much sass, and no one talks nice to their friends. Our niece loves all things Barbie, but we had to turn that sucker off in less than 5min. She's already a sassy pants, and doesn't need any new ideas!

I read the gizmodo last night and it was so infuriating I could barely get through it. How the hell did this POS ever get published? Although "What the fucking shit, Barbie?" made me actually LOL.
I'm not really down with the idea that girls shouldn't play with Barbies because of the unrealistic body image. I played with Barbies and don't ever recall thinking that I would or should grow up to look like her. But that book, omg. No girls need to be exposed to that bullshit.
