I'm going to need a play by play as I'm out to dinner with the in-laws listening to my step father in law sing.
I just turned it on, but 1. This should have been Congress's job, but the House refused to play ball 2. The goal is to deport criminals, and allow illegal immigrants to apply for temporary permits to stay with the expectation that they be law-abiding taxpayers. 3. This is supposed to be Congress's job, but again, they're not playing ball 4. He's said "get right with the law" about 5 times and every time, it makes me think of revival tent meeting preachers, saying, "Get right with the Lord!"
Basically, this is a good, law-abiding, compassionate action and Republicans need to get with the program and stop being hypocrites.

I wonder if he's decided that since he's not helping anyone run for anything anymore, maybe now he doesn't have to avoid ticking anyone off and can do what he wants.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Why wasn't his speech on all the regular channels? It was only on PBS here. I do have a question - how will immigrants be able to prove they have been here at least 5 years or longer? What happens after the 2 years is up?
H turned on Fox News last night and it was kind of hilarious watching their heads explode over this speech. It was all OMG OBAMA IS DESTROYING THE CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!11!!

I've gotten away from politics the last couple years and officially decided I'm an Independent voter. I just got so sick of fox news complaining all the time. When we were driving to OK last weekend DH had it on Fox thru his satellite car radio - it's all they talked about. Made it seem that he was making 5 million illegals legal. I like to hear all the facts before I make any decisions on whether I think something is good or not.

And you know, if they were debating the merits of the plan, I would't have a problem with that. Like, this is a bad idea because studies show wages will go down by xyz. Whatever. But they can't even bother to talk about the facts of the plan - it's all OMG it's totally unconstitutional and Obama hates America!!! despite the fact that this kind of immigration policy executive order has been done by numerous previous presidents.

There are a lot of ways to prove that one has been here. Lease agreements, rent receipts, any receipt for utility, sometimes affidavits from family members can be used. Letters from employers, check stubs, etc.

That makes sense….I really hadn't thought about all that.

They will probably try to sue him again. I had a feeling there was more to the story than - amnesty lol.
