DD has started smiling this week, and last night she was looking into my eyes and smiling and it was so sweet that I started crying. I'm not a happy crier, so the whole flood of emotions took me by surprise.
Then she went to bed with hardly any fussing (completely skipped the witching hour she normally has) and slept 10:15 to 6:45. So yeah, it was a good night!
DD is having FWP. The 9 month pants from Carters are just a tad too short but the 12 month pants are too large at the waist and keep falling off. Sigh.
I stayed up for several hours in the MOTN going through papers in my room. The hospital finally decided to send the bill for DD's hospital stay back when she was born, 10 months ago. Good thing I opened the envelope the week AFTER open enrollment ended. My husband is trying to see if he can add some more money to the HSA.
We have no milk at home so I couldn't make any coffee or tea this morning. I need to stuff DD into some warm clothes and leave for caffeine, stat. Off to the DD drive through!
Wow that was an epic PTing craziness. Not quite the level of @this poopslosion or anything, but definitely top 5. DS started pooping in his pull-up and came running to me saying "momma poop!" So we ran to finish on the potty, which he did (hooray!) Since there was already squished poop on his butt from the pull-up, it got all over the little potty and therefore on his whole back and legs when he sat down. After he finished, I tried to calmly walk him back to his room to get cleaned up. But he tripped backwards, tucking his feet under him, getting poop on his feet. Then he took a few steps before I grabbed him, poop footprints everywhere ! Then the cat started walking through the footprints, ahhhh! I had to call in DH from a phone call to help me.

A bad baby name just came across my FB feed. It's a friend of a friend of a friend sort of a situation, so I know nothing about the parents, other than they look very hipster-y in their picture. The first name is definitely NMS (with the spelling they used, it's a common British last name so maybe it's a family name, but with a different spelling it's a noun; kid is constantly going to have to tell people which version is actually his(?) name), but whatever. I've seen far worse names, so it's not that big of a deal.
The middle name, however, is Ox.
Please tell me there is a culture out there somewhere in which Ox is a legitimate choice of a name. Because if not, who the hell names their kid Ox? Is their next kid going to be Bull?
Also, I feel your pain too sent. I just got off the phone for the 1 millionth time with both the hospital lab and my health insurance company regarding claims for when my babies were born in February. I have talked to both of them so many times I cannot even count, and also to collections when they had the audacity to send me there.
We are going to my ILs to celebrate an early thanksgiving.
We will be sharing a room with both kids. I'm nervous K is going to wake X super early. Hold me!
I've been wondering how this will work at my parents' place for Christmas. Sharing with DD in the past hasn't been an issue, but now I'm worried DS will wake DD. also, the logistics are stumping me. If I set up a PNP, someone is going to be blocked in (either me & DH or DD) based on how the space is set up. So maybe I just have DS sleep with us?
I was behind another car leaving preschool yesterday and the (approximately 3.5 year old) child in the giant SUV in front of me was not only not in any type of carseat or booster, the window was open and he was hanging half out. They were traveling the same direction I was so this went on for a good 7 minutes on main roads traveling at 40-45mph. I just...what?
I thought about calling the police but figured they'd be long gone by the time the police came.

I have found that the Jumping Beans brand from Kohls runs small. DS is at the point where 3T are almost too short, but 4T pants are falling off. The JB 4T fit perfect.

Thanks, we'll check Kohl's. I'm surprised at DD's problem because up until now, Carter's has been our go-to brand for my long and lean baby. The 12 month shirts are fitting her fine, only the pants that are a problem.

Fill in the blank _____ Scholar, or a synonym for streets.

Nooooooooo! That goes horribly with Ox. Well, not that a lot goes well with Ox, but this sounds like a particular kind of Ox, you know, as opposed to a Street Ox or something.

So DH and I are semi-lapsed Catholics. We've tried going back to church a few times, but dealing with the kids is so impossible and miserable, we've never stuck with it. While DS's preschool is not religious, it is located inside a Lutheran church. Today, DD noticed an angel statue for the first time. She said, "Look! A bat!" #religiouseducationfail
Every day this week, DS has refused to put on his coat to walk to the car after I pick him up. I've just told him, "If you don't wear your coat, you'll be cold!" He still never did put it on. Today, I didn't even get to ask him to put on his coat. As soon as he picked up his coat from the hook, he said, "I want to be cold!" So much for logical consequences.
Thanks sweetie. PTing is SO NASTY. And I have to be excited and CHIPPER the WHOLE TIME so he doesn't get discouraged. I feel like a legit crazy person. When that craziness happened, I couldn't be like "EWW, gross, poop everywhere, nasty!" Because I don't want DS to think pooping on the potty is gross, KWIM? So I have to be EXCITED about the poop. So disgusting.

It has been so crazy the past two weeks with work I completely forgot that I am running a 10K tomorrow morning. Hello early wake up in the freezing cold.......
The women that cleaned my house this morning did such an amazing job that now I am noticiing how dirty all the things are they don't clean like the doors, trim work, etc. I think I like it better when they only do an OK job. Then I don't notice how dirty the rest of the house is.
Our neighbor is setting up their Christmas decorations. Let the season of inflatable crap begin!
DS is fascinated with the Christmas lights though, he and the neighbor had a great discussion about why the lights go up and that's how Santa finds houses. I'm just waiting for DS to ask about lights all over our house (which we don't do, we just do wreathes on the windows and some lit garland) and having to explain to him how Santa will find our house.
DH started putting up lights last weekend. (wilted) Then he was all upset about not being further along that he flexed this week so he could leave work early today and put up lights.
I've already discussed his close association with Clark Griswold here.
We don't have any inflatables though. I've told him inflatables will lead to divorce.
@supergreen my mom keeps hinting that she thinks C is ready to PT and I'm just like, "NOPE." It sounds awful.
Vent: H is supposed to go to Friendsgiving about 3.5-4 hours away with friends from college tomorrow, overnight. I've solo parented every night this week, we just got back from an exhausting vacation, I had my L&D scare yesterday, I have a cold, I'm 29 weeks pregnant and we're hosting Thanksgiving next week. He's all "I'll stay home if you want me to" but I hate hate hate being put in the bad guy position of saying, "yes, cancel on your friends, I need you here."
Our nanny called us home early on both Wednesday and Thursday because DS wouldn't stop screaming (teething). Tylenol wouldn't touch it. DS woke up happy this morning so we were cautiously optimistic. H called me at lunch after chatting with the nanny - DS put together a 3 hour nap this morning. Holy crap. Prior to today he's slept an hour at most for her. Hopefully this means he's pushing through. Still no teeth though.

Try and fight down the guilt. I would 100% have him cancel.
DH went for a sleep study consult yesterday and had an appointment for the actual sleep study sometime in December. But they had a cancellation and he can do it tonight, so he is. Luckily he doesn't have to leave till after bedtime so I'll just have a night of watching trashy tv and a bed to myself tonight. I'm really not seeing a downside lol. Most importantly, I hope this gets us some answers.
Tomorrow night we have a babysitter and we're going downtown to have dinner and watch a college football game. Should be fun! Yay for date nights.

I am waiting to hear back from our school district on whether I can red shirt H for Vanguard G/T kindergarten testing. I hope they say yes and will put it in writing.
