I honestly don't know. They are like pack n plays.... I feel like for every person who swears by it, there's another person who barely used it.
We bought a glider, and I plan to use it for rocking the baby to sleep and middle of the night nursing. I guess time will tell if it actually gets used. I'm very happy with the peice we bought though, and will definitely repurpose it somewhere else in our house once we no longer have a nursery. Tear.
We have a family rocking chair that my mom used when my brother and I were babies. This baby is going to be the first grandchild so I'm 99% sure my dad will give it to me. I'm wondering if I'm going to regret not having a full blown soft squishy glider with an ottoman. So a similar boat.

I have the rocker my mom bought and used when my sister and I were little. I used it with DD for rocking her to sleep and overnight nursing. I kinda appreciated its not so comfy design as it kept me from falling asleep in the chair with her in my arms. And it was free, and it isn't so huge to stick in the corner of another room once the babies transition to their big-kid rooms.

We aren't planning on getting one so I hope not! We just don't have room. We do have a Lazy Boy that rocks, so I'll probably just use that. Only thing I wish it had is the rocking ottoman, but I will be fine without it!
We don't have one, but both of our parents have offered us rockers, so if we decide it's something we need we can always take them up on it. We have a bed in the nursery, so there is no room in there, but we could put a rocker in our living room. Do you have room for a rocker or glider? You can always buy one after the baby comes if you regret not getting one.

The rocker my mom used with me is in storage, and we are thinking about using it. We are trying hard not to buy a ton of stuff that makes clutter so I would like to have something that could transition into our home (like one of those gorgeous chairs posted here). On the other hand, expensive! And on the other, other hand the ugly poofy chairs really are comfy and readily available on Craigslist...

I think I personally would regret not having one. I love the gliding/rocking motion of these chairs to begin with so even if it was in my living room as general furniture I would use it. I've always liked relaxing in one. I'm hoping bunny will feel the same
When I was on maternity leave, I spent most of my time downstairs nursing C on the couch, and he slept in our bedroom so I just nursed him in bed overnight.
Once we moved him to his room, the glider was key for MOTN feedings because I didn't want to take him all the way back to our room (which would wake him up more, as well as H). I've used it pretty much every day for over 2 years now. I'm actually entertaining the idea of buying a second one instead of moving the one out of C's room to the new baby's room because we still use it for reading stories and occasional soothing.

I would have.
My son slept in his room from the first night home. Which meant for the first year I was basically sleeping in the glider every night (because of all the night feedings).
DH used it nightly from 6 weeks to ? for storytime and bedtime bottles.
Even now, 3 years later, we still use it for reading stories together. Although we'll be moving it into the new nursery once that gets set up.
We live in a small 1 bedroom apartment (~600sqft). No nursery for the baby - he'll be sleeping in a mini crib in our bedroom, which juuust fits in the space (even after moving out a dresser).
We do have some space in the living room, but only if I get rid of the hideous recliner that I bought to use after I had surgery last year. We've kept it in our apartment since we know we'll be moving within the year and trying to transport that out of here is a pain - so we just planned to move it out when we had movers. But I'm kind of wondering if I should try to sell it or get rid of it and replace with a rocker/glider.

I'm loving mine... Got one for upstairs and one for downstairs, and spending a bunch of time in both. DH is talking about getting another one or two, since he never gets to sit in them when he sits with me.
But I'm also someone who previously always grabbed the glider when I was at someone else's house and there was a glider. So I knew I already knew I really like them. The only reason we didn't already own gliders prior to this pregnancy was a lack of space until our recent home purchase.
I think the important thing is that you have somewhere really comfortable to sit with the baby. Especially if you will be BFing.
Thanks for weighing in. I'll see how difficult it is to get rid of the recliner before making my decision - or maybe just see how it's going the first couple of weeks.

It was totally 100% necessary for us with DS. Could not have lived without it for two years. ETA it was always in his room. Now it's in the new nursery.

We've used ours everyday. Did will be 2 when the baby is born. I want a new one for the babies room because we read stories in their every night and cuddle. She sees it as her chair.
