Does anyone watch this show? Has the buyer ever actually bought a house?
I had never heard of this show until I caught a marathon of it today. It seems like the dumbest premise for a show ever. Buyer can't find any suitable homes for sale in their geographic target area, so they approach a bunch of owners and ask if they'd be willing to sell. In every single episode that I saw, they picked a house and the seller came back with their price, and then the buyer thought it was high and countered back significantly lower. No shocker, none of them managed to buy a house. It seems like a no brainer that if you approach someone to sell in a tight housing market that you aren't going to get a deal. I would be expecting well over market value if someone wanted me to sell my house to them unless I just happened to be preparing to put it on the market.
I watched it today as well and wish someone would just show up wanting to buy my house!!!!!! But it was disappointing that no one struck a deal - I think that would be more interesting.

LOL! If someone showed up wanting to buy my house, it would take a lot to make me move. That's why I was so surprised the proposed buyers were looking to pay market value when they found people willing to sell. I can't imagine countering back $100k under someone's 'make me move' price. Of course you're going to pay a premium if the house isn't for sale!
I'm way too worked up about this. I don't want to waste time watching anymore episodes if no one ever buys a house.

I won't be watching again, and we are definitely one of those couples who wants to move but is just kind of overwhelmed at the thought of actually doing it. If someone offered us market price, and we didn't have to pay realtor fees - or stage the house - or deal with showings I'd be down for it!
