My 3rd didn't have any interest until she turned 2. Now she likes it. She's actually watching it now. I don't have too many limits with my kids. We are out and about so often that I don't need to worry about it.

She'll sit for five minutes or so and watch something. We have it on in the background a lot, so she'll play and then watch for a few minutes here and there. Mostly when there's music.
I try to find stuff on Netflix that won't annoy the crap out of me. It's harder than it sounds.
For the most part DS has zero interest in tv, although it is on for background noise a lot. I keep thinking that he will start to become interested, and DH and I decided that this is when we will turn the tv off. But I do worry that he does hear/absorb more than we actually think he does by having it on as background noise.
My kids are still little so I really can't comment from personal experience. But I know that studies have been done that show that kids play is different with tv background noise vs no tv background noise. I don't remember the details, but I believe the focus on one activity was longer with no tv. I don't think that means don't ever use the tv as background noise, but I do think it shows that just because kids don't actively watch doesn't mean they don't know it's on.
G is already obsessed with the tv. I think he likes the colors and lights? It drives me crazy since I like to have it on as background noise for me. I can only listen to the kick n play's repertoire so many times.
We try to keep it low and not to let him watch it, but I admit to letting him watch him when he's has some epic meltdowns. He quiets down immediately and is just entranced.
I'm going to be in trouble later with this, aren't I?
DD is 17 months and watches Daniel Tiger 2-3 times a week, but rarely makes it through a full episode. I also use YouTube videos on my phone to distract her when I cut her nails.

I don't remember, but know that we took DS to his first movie at 18 months and he sat through almost the entire thing, so I assume we were allowing TV shows prior to that.

DD is only 6 weeks old and I'll confess I've done the same thing a couple times. She is fascinated by it and will turn her head to look at it if she's facing away from it. At least she's practicing head control?
DS didn't start really being interested until 2.5. We wouldn't have minded that being earlier. Nothing would hold his attention for more than 5 minutes though.
DD is 19 months. She will watch entire episodes of Daniel Tiger, Curious George, Sofia the First, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Super Why and Doc McStuffins. She will sit through all of Frozen (but will not watch more than 2 minutes of any other children's movie). She rejected a The Great Pumpkin at first but then was a fan when we tried again.
She doesn't pay any attention to tv if it's not on one of these shows unless it's football with her Daddy.
DS1 would "watch" it for small amounts of time pretty early on. I would try and use it to buy some time every now and then, and it didn't really get me any until about 18 months. He didn't start actually paying attention and following for amounts of time until closer to two.

My kids watch a lot of tv. DD2 is almost 13 months and will sit and watch an entire Mickey episode. Our tv is on a lot. DD2 doesn't watch it the majority of the time, but will stop and watch a song and dance and go back to playing. She's been dong this for a few months. I'm sure she gets more screen time than like 99% of other GBCN kids.

DS loves the idea of TV, and is very happy when it's on, but doesn't sit through more than a few minutes of watching it. Even the sequences on Sesame Street are too long for him.
DD is 4.5 months and LOVES the tv. She certainly doesn't watch any shows or anything, but we have not been very intentional about shielding it from her or turning it off when she is around. I think we should probably start though.
DD was never too interested in the tv until maybe a couple months ago (so around 14 months). Now she loooooves it and walks around all day carrying the remote. I let her watch one show a day usually (more if I really need a break lol). Her show of choice right now is Daniel Tiger. She gets so excited when she hears the theme song!

Even more flameful our local FOX NEWS ***ahhhhhh**** affilate weather girl was like FREAKING MESMERIZING to babies when DS was little. All you had to do was put her on and hold him in the football hold and sway him back and forth and he would just STOP crying. It was pretty universal too. They did a freakin' SEGMENT on how babies were obsessed with her. I used to DVR the weather a few times a week so he could watch her.
She moved to another channel when DS was about 6 months old, so if I ever have another baby, I won't have to watch FOX News. LOL!
To answer the question. I watched TV with DS around on Maternity leave. He started to " like " certain shows around 10 months old ( like the Babies First ) all educational stuff, only 5-10 minutes exposure at a time. By 1 I started letting him watch Super Why! for 24 minutes while I prepped dinner. At 16 months old he heard the Phineas and Ferb theme song and said " That's FERB I watch FERB" LOL

Wow. If the TV is on, L stares ar it, and has since about three months. We keep it turned off, or on a music channel, around her. Unless I need to clip her fingernails - I'll let her watch for a few minutes to keep her still, lol.

We started to let M watch TV just before he was 2. We let him watch "Baby First Channel" and it was only for about 20 minutes. The last couple months he has been watching Peter Rabbit and PBS kids. He LOVES Calliou. We only let him watch for 30-45 minutes. We have noticed he has been asking more to watch so we are trying to nip it in the bud.
