I've been wearing pants from Kohls lately, the Apt. 9 ones. I love the fit, my only complaint is that I've had the hem fall out on a couple pairs. I get them cheap enough that I deal with it though. I get either the Modern fit or the Curvy fit:
Are you sure they're phasing them out or are they just randomly on clearance? I really, really hope it's the latter as I have several pairs myself (and owned them in the maternity version, too). I do also like the Express editor pants, though.
Try Banana Republic Sloan fit or Martin fit. If you do the Sloan, then look for the trouser fit. They have a million skinny versions but one trouser cut. I really like them. I'm 5'4" and they fit right, so I bought one in regular length for heels and one in short for flats. No need to hem, which was perfect.
I just bought 2 pairs of these this weekend. I did find it annoying how many different fits and legs were offered. Then once I figured out the best combination (modern and trouser) they of course didnt have my size in the color I wanted so I had to go to another location. But I paid $20 for each pair so I guess I can't complain too much.
I really hope they are not as I love these pants, and skinny cut is not exceptable in every work place. With that banana has some good cuts that I get at the outlet

They are still selling Modern Boot, but they have reworked the fit. It must be a bad update because the new styles all have one star ratings and tons of complaints. Hopefully they will bring back the original fit.

Gah! Looks like they did the same thing with the premium trousers too! I'm super tall and they're the only ones I've found that are super long! I could cry.
I didn't notice bc of my pregnancy, I quickly ordered another maternity pair of the same pants.
My newest fave is a pair of Calvin kleins I found at macys (or maybe dillards?). They're a slimmer cut than I normally wear but are super flattering. I work in a very conservative office and wouldn't hesitate to wear them.

I used to only buy Express Editor pants, but they sucked the past few times I tried them, so I've officially switched my allegiance to the Limited Exact Stretch.
