I've decided to take a break from competing

Getting a team together has become emotionally exhausting. The girls at my gym tend to be really catty about it and it's become a source of real frustration for me. I love it, the actually day of a comp is SO much fun, and I definitely enjoy the eating afterwards. But all that is just not worth how frustrating getting the actual team together has become. 

I'm feeling pretty sad about this. But also sort of relieved. 

Just needed to get that out.

That is disappointing that the girls are so catty. Maybe someone else will step up to put together a team and you can join?

That's kind of what my hope is. If someone asks, I probably won't turn them down. But being the point person is just not working for me anymore.

I'm sorry that something that I know you enjoy has become a headache. I hope someone else steps up and that you guys can get a more set team together that works well and has fun, so that you don't have to worry about who's going to be involved each time.

Orrrrr you go individual and kick all their asses as revenge. No?

I don't enjoy individual nearly as much. I do mostly coed comps now but they usually involve finding other girls unless it's a M/F partner comp. My H will be my partner for those

M/F is what I meant. I hear a lot of people prefer the partner comps. I've only done an individual so I can't say which I'd prefer.

Yeah, I thought my H and would want to kill each other, but we actually had a great time.

One of the ladies at my box gifted her husband to me for the next partner comp. She said they fight whenever they workout together.

I had to talk to my H ahead of time and tell him he was not allowed to yell at me, even if he thought he was being encouraging. It makes me cry lol.

It does sound like the right choice to step back & take a break (at least from being the lead.)

I hope you can find other fulfilling goals to work toward or maybe take advantage of the M/F team as PPs have said. Hope it all works out for the best!

I would really like to work on strength for awhile instead of Crossfit-type conditioning. So there's that.
