@ antibiotics in first trimester?

I'm so sick.  Both ears blocked, sore throat, cough, congestion, the works.  It's been over a week.  I'm OOT, so I have an appointment with a doc here in Austin.  I will of course ask her all these questions, but hoping for some RL answers.  So--are AB a big deal?  What am I risking if I try to wait it out?

Some should be avoided but in general you should be able to get something if she actually finds an infected area:

Totally anecdotal, but I had to take them for strep throat at about 9 weeks pregnant. My kid is perfect

I took none during either pg and my kids are still screwed up.

I had to take them around 8 weeks along with my twins for a UTI and they're perfectly healthy so far (4.5 years old).

My OB prescribed them at some point in my pregnancy with Drew (sadly less than two years later I can't remember more than "at some point") due to a UTI. He so far has shown no allergies or intolerances or medical issues at all.

Well, I have a raging ear infection, and am crossing my fingers that it doesn't rupture. Amoxicillin it is.

I also took them with both pregnancies and my kids have zero allergies and are a-ok. I would listen to your dr. Infections can be dangerous for a baby.

I thought antibiotics were now a no no for n ear infection?

I think I had two rounds but I now forgot at what stage it was in my pregnancy. One was for a UTI and another for a raging ear infection

I took a round at 8 weeks for a UTI.

I then had the dreaded c-section + 100% formula feeding combo, so I assume his gut is a wasteland. Just kidding, he's fine.

I took amoxicillin early first tri with my son because I had a tick. No negative effects.

I didn't take them at all during pregnancy, but did have them for gbs+ at end of my pregnancy for one kid, plus had one kid who was sick a lot the first year and had them at least 4-5 times. My kid who had them a lot that first year has a default diagnosis of "toddler diarrhea," so anecdotally I think lots of antibiotics in the actual newborn year is what people try to avoid or right after birth if you're breast feeding. But I only have anecdotes to back that up.

Oops I lied I had the drip during labor cuz I had the strep.

But DS progressed somewhat slowly so he still got lots of vagina time to populate his flora. Or whateverthefuck you call it.

He's still screwed up
