I always go ornament shopping with my mom and sister. When bkb gets older we might do the movie marathon thing together. (go to the movies all day). I am not sure if H has the patience for that. We go to Santa on Christmas eve... I'll keep thinking. I love traditions Especially now that I have my own family.
I'm sure we have some, but I can't think of any. I used to go to Molbak's every year with my stepmum but since her (several year) nursing home stay, we haven't been able to do that. It's too tiring. H and I used to do fondue for Christmas Eve dinner until I became lactose intolerant.

-We chop down our tree
-We go to the Christmas light thing in Spanaway or Puyallup or wherever it is
-We try to get Tman to sit on Santa's lap every time we are at the mall and he objects and we tell him that he won't get anything for Christmas if he doesn't tell Santa what he wants and Tman says that Santa's not real and we gasp and in utter disbelief tell him that the reindeer cannot fly if there is disbelief - this has become quite a tradition for us.
-James barfs - a bad tradition, I do not suggest implementing this
-We use to go to Leavenworth every year, but it got too expensive. We might reinstate that this year.
Most of ours are scheduling. So we don't have to compromise, and still get to see a lot of our family. We figured this would make it easier when we have kids.
Thanskgiving dinner number 1 - Grandma's house, always the Saturday before Thanksgiving. My moms younger brother always craves the turkey. Thanksgiving dinner number 2 - My parents and siblings, always the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. My mom has Wednesdays off Thanksgiving dinner number 3 - H's family, the day of Thanksgiving.
Day after Thanksgiving - Xmas tree goes up
Christmas eve - My family Christmas dad - H's family
Saturday after New Years - Xmas tree comes down .
Nothing else is set yet. Like we go look at Xmas lights every year but it's been a different place. We've done Leavenworth, but nothing consistent.
H and I always take a trip to Leavenworth right before Thanksgiving. We missed doing that this year and I'm bummed.
On Thanksgiving, before dessert, my mom puts 5 popcorn kernels next to everyone's plate. We go around the table 5 times and everyone says one thing they are thankful for. This is a fun way to put non family members at dinner on the spot and make them feel incredibly awkward but I can't imagine thanksgiving without this. Nobody gets dessert till they rattle off their 5 things.
On Christmas Eve, h and I go to church together then out to dinner at the little Italian place where we are the night we got engaged (holiday engagement). We then go home and each open one present. Mine is always lingerie so...

When Bkb and I make chocolate chip cookies, we always have to each seven chocolate chips each for good luck on the cookie batch. My grandma taught me that.

We started doing CHinese food new years eve, but we don't have a place in town we are happy with, so maybe we'll have to change that to italian or something

You know my recommendation for Italian
We really don't have good Chinese around here. It's a bummer.
We now go to five guys for dinner on the night before Thanksgiving. I cook tamales for Christmas (not homemade) and do a Mexican feast with loads of salsa, guac, etc. DH and I do stockings for one another (this was a new one for us starting last year)
For thanksgiving this year, if we play cards against humanity, I'm going to call it a tradition...

Our traditions have changed over the years because what used to be just my family now includes H's family. Now that we have a house, we are kind of looking at the holiday's a little bit differently.
We go to H's mom's on Christmas Eve every year - she goes completely crazy for Christmas and it's so cute how much excitement she has on her face the entire time we're there.
Christmas day was H's dad's generally so my parents were kind of stuck with when we could fit them in. We've done a Christmas Day brunch with them the last 3 years, but this year, we're doing H's dad's the weekend before and I couldn't be more excited to have Christmas in our new home and have Christmas dinner with my parents.
Thanksgiving this year is completely new as I'm hosting my parents...I'm so excited to see how this turns out and I've been dreaming terrifying turkey dreams for the last week.
We always do gifts for DD that includes half from us and half from Santa. The past 2 years we've done funny tricks on her from Santa....last year it backfired
DD and I make cookie plates every year for my coworkers, her daycare provider, her teacher and a few other folks. She LOVES helping me bake and we have fun deciding, together, what we're going to make each year.
