Does anyone really like going to the dentist. I have had so many horrible experiences that I have panic attacks walking in the door and have to calm myself down. I went to one last year when I broke a tooth and he looked at me like I was an idiot when I was pretty much hyperventilating in the chair before he started to fix the tooth.
I freaking love my dentist. I've gone to him since I was pretty young - my mom was sold when I came out super happy after having teeth pulled and we've all gone to him since! He's in magnolia though so not very convenient for most people.
Yeah definitely not easy for me to go to. We went to one in Kent for a couple things and I will never go that far for a dentist again. Heck I don't know why we went that far in the first place at this point.
I went to the same dentist for 19 years, my grandma still uses him and she drives 6 hours to get her to see him, but I had several experiences with not enough novacaine. One of those times I cut my hand on the bottom of his tool tray because it was such a sudden shock of pain.
The next one I went to was a recommendation from my FIL. The dental hygienists nickname, which I learned after the appointment, is the butcher. I couldn't drink water after that appointment because she had poked and prodded so much my gums were raw.
The one in Kent was alright but I couldn't handle almost a 2 hour trip to go to the dentist.
The one that fixed my broken tooth last year was just such an ass about the whole thing and then made me feel like I am an idiot when it comes to my mouth, I have shitty teeth and it doesn't matter what I do to correct it nothing works, and gave me a 30 minute lecture while fixing the tooth.
The dentist I'm going to tomorrow is the same company as the one we went to in Kent and my H said that he liked him even more than the Kent dentist so I'm hoping that I do too.

I had the same dentist from the time I was 5 until 20 and although I didn't like the dentist he made it bearable. He removed all but 2 of my baby teeth ( I knocked those out playing softball.) Straightened my baby teeth with retainers and spacers and was shocked at 19 when I showed up wanting braces.
I went through 3 dentists in Seattle until I found one I like. I'm sad to be starting over, but I'm playing it smart and getting my scheduled cleaning before we bail from here so I have some time to do research.
I have struggled to find a dentist I like. I have had a few issues with my teeth too. I will give you my list of excuses.
I knocked my 2 front teeth out when I was 9, they were replaced ok but after my braces came off as a teen my teerh were still pretty bad and the front 2 didn't match so I had them replaced with veneers.
I got 2 cavities (first ever!) and the dentist did not fill them properly and they caused a bunch of problems with my other teeth
The dentist that fixed those refused to give me more Novocain and I felt all of it and it hurt like a mofo.
Lastly I fell on my face and broke my front teeth, nose, almost my orbit.
Now I have panic attacks if I try to go to the dentist.
I've been going to the same dentist for over 20 years. I like him, but I like his dental hygienists more. I don't love going to the dentist, but I don't hate it either. My doc has 2 office dogs that will hop up on your lap and let you cuddle them during cleanings.
Sounders, I don't know if this helps at all, but I have a college friend who's now a hygienist at a dentist right where you and legal live. I don't know anything about the dentist, but my friend really loves working there. I can pm you the office info if you're looki for someone near you.
I like pretty teeth so I go.... I can think of many other things I would rather do but I go without complaints. I have only had two dentists in my entire life though.
I would be perfectly happy if I could get rid of all my teeth have implants and never have to see a dentist again. But unfortunately that is not how things work.

This is where I am, too. I hate the dentist. I have nice, strong teeth, but they will probably be in trouble since I avoid the dentist.
