I've been charged with bringing desserts to Thanksgiving dinner. There will be 30 ish people, lots of kids.
Make no mistake, I need easy baking recipes. I'm home alone with the 3 kiddos. Here are two cakes I found and I'll definitely make place and bake cookies for the kids.
What recipes or suggestions do you have? And what desserts are you making?
My mom makes a "fresh-fruit" cake, that's basically a cinnamon quick bread/cake that fills a 9x13 pan that you can use any choice or combination of fruits like apple, pear, peach etc. It would be quick and easy. It's kind of like this recipe:
I always make pecan pie bars but have been banned from baking this year lol. I'll probably make them anyway. They are even better a few days after you make them. This recipe is similar:http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pecan-Pie-Bars-I-2/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=pecan%20pie%20bars&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page&soid=sr_results_p1i1
I use more pecans, don't chop them, and toast them in the oven first.

Probably too late, but pumpkin trifle is SO easy and looks impressive.
Make a box cake--pumpkin or cinnamon or spice. Cool and cut into chunks in the pan. While the cake is baking, mix up some instant pudding--vanilla or pumpkin depending on what flavor cake you made
Layer cake chunks, pudding and cool whip in a trifle dish. End with whipped cream on the top. Sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar.
If you don't have a trifle dish, just make the cake in a 13x9 pan. Layer the pudding on top and the cool whip over the pudding. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
I make variations of this a lot. Can also do chocolate with chunks of candy or lemon and vanilla. Anything really!
