Have you tried using baking soda, peroxide, and a magic eraser? That's what finally worked for us.
If you have to use the razor, be *very* careful not to scratch the surface.
I have not tried this concoction but will now I think I have everything and don't have to pick DS up for 2 hours. Cross your fingers.
Thanks everyone one for the suggestions! I really appreciate it. I'll update if I ever get it clean.
Put the baking soda on the stain to cover. Pour the peroxide over it - I do a little at a time until it sort of makes a paste. Then rub in circles with the magic eraser.
Baking soda on the glass top, soak a rag in a mixture of HOT water, vinegar, and dish soap. Lay the rag over the baking soda and leave it until it's cool. Scrub it clean.
Magic Erasers work well also.
I use windex and a towel to clean all of the residue off and make it shiny afterwards.
We had major issues with our cooktop too. I started using this every time I wiped down the cooktop, and it leaves a waxy coating behind that nothing sticks to:
The coating left behind can be a little bit streaky, but totally worth the ease of cleaning. I've had some major burnt on spills and they pretty much come right off as long as I used this prior to the spill.
Not sure if it would be strong enough to get what you have off now, though, but good for going forward.
Get the stove cleaning razor blade and glass top heavy duty cleaner. I got both from Target. Soak for an hour and start scrubbing. Do it carefully though!

mrs.jacinthe 's concoction got the center of the burner clean! The edges seem to be much more stubborn. I'll be trying some of your ideas this weekend. Thanks!
Somebody here had some before and after pics of their glass top stove that they worked some magic on. I want to say the poster is a landlord and it was a rental unit that she was cleaning after a tenant moved out? Any guesses?
ETA: I found the thread I was thinking of, it was cheeseandcrackers. Looks like the after photo doesn't show up anymore.
I mixed baking soda and peroxide, made a paste into it, left it on for a while and then scrubbed the shit out of it. AFTER i used this technique. THEN I used the scrubbing magic stovetop formula and again scrubbed like a mad woman.
I didn't get everything I wanted out and it's def doesnt look brand new anymore, but it helped. Here is the after pic.
