What kind of stockings do you have? Some of you said you dont have names. Are your stockings all different then? Are they matching but not exactly the same?
Ours are the same -- ivory cable knit and our names are embroidered on the top. As a kid, we all had the same traditional red stocking with white fuzz and no names. We knew who's was who's by what was in it on Christmas morning. There were 5 kids so im sure it was more chaos than I remember.

We have our childhood stockings. Mine is knitted with my name at the top. It red, green, and white from the early 80s so the Red is like neon tomato. My H's is the red with fuzz and his name in sparkle paint. DD has a placeholder that's a pink and white felt stocking covered in snowflakes. I obviously don't care about matching.
We have some that do, color wise. Then our first ones, (the mama dad ones ) were all pooh since DS's room was pooh. But we also have others that do not, DH has a Cowboys one, I have a Little Mermaid.. etc.
Growing up they were all different at my house but handmade coordinating at my grandmas.
Now, at my parent's house we use those homemade coordinating ones and have added to them as the family grows, they all have names, too. At my inlaws we all have needlepoint ones my mil made with names.
At our house we have coordinating pbk quilted ones with names. I love that they match and look pretty hanging up all month.
We just have the knit monogram stockings from Target, but we all have different colors. One day I'll get creative and actually knit some for the family, but until then, Target. Lol.
None of ours match although they are the same style. We don't have names, but instead have a monogram pin of the first initial of each of our names attached to them.
We have the red velvet with green cuff and names embroidered in white from Pottery Barn. Growing up, we had cross-stitched designs on the front that differentiated the stockings. My mom still hangs ours up at her house each year. My parents got divorced when I was in high school and since my mom kept our stockings, my dad bought us plain stockings and let us decorate them with puff paint. They are not aesthetically very pleasing, but mean the world to me. :-)

Ours are from Lands end. Names and they match in that they are all similar. I never had a stocking as a kid and my dH's is still at his folks' house. We have stockings there and they match except ours are initial and the kids have full names.

We used to have the plain red and white fuzzy ones. Since we're done having kids I crocheted us stockings last year. They coordinate and are the same pattern but each is unique. No names since I couldn't figure out how to do it so unfortunately this year I can't remember whose sticking was whose. I'll need to go back and look at the pictures from Christmas morning
Growing up we had the red felt stockings with our names on then but since my sister and I have had families of our own my mom got crafty and did those felt stocking kits so we each have a fancy one at her house that is unique to us. Jack used to love fire trucks so his has a fire Santa and a dalmatian, I love to bake so mine has sugar cookies and gingerbread men on it, and I used to read trashy romance novels and my mom was teasing me about it in front if Gary and he made a comment about dressing up as a pirate for me so.....his has a Santa pirate on it. I don't know what Wlls is yet, not sure if he has one or not.
we have randoms- I've had mine since I was little, it's a penguin. Z has a penguin on with her name and DH has one with the first letter of his name on it and it's red.

Ours are plain from target. They coordinate but aren't matching. I don't know whose is whose most of the time. They are: white knit, green knit, green cotton and red cotton. No names.

You should put a piece of paper in each stocking with the person's name on it before you box them up for the year.
We just have some random Target stockings now and I let the kids choose one from the dollar tree every year then they can choose which one they hang up for Santa. Once we are done having kids, I will get us all nice stockings with our names or initials on them but I'm afraid, if I get them now and then we have another kid, I won't be able to get the same one for the third kid. And buying a stocking for a child who is not yet even conceived feels like some sort of jinx or bad luck or something.
Ours do not match. DS and DD1 have ones from Lands End with their names embroidered. DD2's is from PBK but her name is one character longer than their maximum for embroidery. So here is empty and I have not taken it anywhere to get embroidered, purely out of laziness
