Thick vaginal discharge in newborn?

DD is three days old, and when I checked her diaper she had a really thick mucus-y discharge. I wiped, and it was a little stuck inside.

Normal? From Google it sounds like hormones from me possibly. Or should I try to call an on call nurse/dr?

My baby had this too. They warned us she might lactate, but not about the vaginal discharge.

Yeah, I was warned DD might get a "period" due to hormonal changes. Sure enough, there it was. Totally normal

Totally normal. It's the thick white stuff, right? Our ped told us not to wipe it (unless we had to because poop got in there) because it actually protects her vagina.

Another weird newborn thing: breasts. Both my girls had little breast buds at first as my hormones worked their way out of their little systems.

Late to the party but another vote for normal. Both my girls had this and mini periods thanks to my hormones.

We have that too, but I was talking about what looked like a stuck mucus ball coming out of her vagina.

Normal. And my daughter had some red mucousy discharge too that totally freaked me out, but was normal too. Nobody ever tells you that stuff!
