C fell down an entire flight of stairs today. Head over feet all the way down. I saw it about to happen and I couldn't get to her fast enough. I watched her tumble from the top step to the bottom step.
My MIL died this year from a fall down the stairs. I was screaming to call 911 before she even got to the bottom. My dad said he was pretty sure I got to bottom of the stairs without touching a single one.
She is totally fine. I don't know how. She landed at the bottom, jumped up, and said "hiiiiiiiii" to me and giggled.
I'd be panicked too, especially with the history of your MIL. My nephew took a similar tumble down the wooden stairs at his house when he was about C's age and was also just fine. Kids are crazy resilient sometimes. Glad she's ok!!
How scary!! I'm so sorry this happened but glad she is ok.
Something similar happened to me with J only it was only two stairs. J had gotten to what he thought was the bottom stair right before the landing and turned sideways, looked at me in the living room where I was tandem nursing the girls and said "allll done" to say he was all done on the stairs. It was like slow motion as I watched him tip over sideways. I couldn't move and was trapped under the girls. It was so scary. He cried for me but was fine. I was definitely more scarred from the experience!
I know this is going to sound overly dramatic but I had to go into the bathroom and throw up when it was all over. The adrenaline was just completey overwhelming to me. I will never ever forget the images of knowing it was about to happen and all the tumbling. Seared into my brain forever.
