Does it seem whiter than normal? When we had thrush the first time, the coating on DS's tongue was much thicker than I had ever noticed and was still there well after he nursed or spit up. However, the telltale sign was the intense sensation while nursing- akin to someone shoving shards of glass into my breast.
If you don't feel anything, then it's likely not thrush. If you feel any kind of discomfort, best to get him checked out by a pediatrician and get some meds for yourself if the pedi confirms thrush. You both need to be treated.

Can you wipe it off? If so, it is most likely milk. If not, it could be thrush. I agree that the thrush was a much thicker coating for us. Do they have a diaper rash? Do you have any pain while nursing?
Here's a crappy picture of my son's thrush. It was on his cheeks and lips too. Started on his tongue and I thought it was just formula, then it started showing up other places and it did not wipe off easily
Yes, thrush can happen in a baby's mouth even if they're not nursing. From your description, it doesn't sound like thrush. If she gets fussy about stuff in her mouth like it hurts, or she stops wanting to eat, or the white spreads to other areas of her mouth, then take her to the pedi. I'd also keep an eye out for a yeast diaper rash, since when there is excess yeast in one place, there might be excess in another, too.
