So my bank fucked up. I scheduled my payment last week like always and received the confirmation email like always. Logged on a few minutes ago and it never went through and I'm past due. I made the payment again quickly then called customer service and they refunded the late fee and interest. No explanation as to what happened. I'm happy with the resolution but will keep an eye on whether it posts in the next couple of days. I didn't even get a "whoops, we don't have your payment" email.
Here is my question - I used the card last night and today for online Xmas shopping. Will these transactions go through since my card is locked until the payment posts?
Why is your card locked? I can't imagine this would be an issue.
Because the payment hasn't posted yet and probably won't until Monday. I'm pissed about this part.
This doesn't sound right for a payment that's only one cycle past due. Banks don't normally freeze your card unless you're over the limit (and need to make a payment to bring it back under the limit) or if you're a few cycles past due/have recurring issues with bounced checks.
Are you sure the account is locked? I have NEVER heard of that. If it is, I'd call customer service and ask them WTF because that's highly unusual (and even if they have that bizarre policy, it is completely unwarranted if this was their error)
