Rant - We just got home from a birthday party at SIL's. We were told about it at 3:30; it started at 4. There was no food- only cake. It was 60 degrees in the house. We left ASAP because the kids were starving.
Rave- I wanted to do my toes a festive color. I decided on green, but had a hard time finding one that was a nice Christmas-y color. I got Revlon Posh. It's really nice- great coverage for a dark color. Hopefully, it lasts because I love it. For Christmas I might put on a sparkly top coat.
Rant - every time I ask for a product rec on here, the #1 answer is something from Ikea. Not everyone has an Ikea! Ours is over 2 hours away. Damn Ikea and their affordable products! If they had reasonable shipping costs from buying online, they'd make a fortune.
Rave - we got a great deal on a mattress today, and luckily it gets delivered tomorrow! DH is ridiculously excited. Apparently his back has been hurting badly for a long time, he just never told me. Good call not complaining to the PG lady about pain. Good call
I just have a rant. In 3 days I've lost out on two Tripp Trapp chairs on Craigslist. The first she gave to someone else even though I was first. Then the one today told me an hour before we were to meet that she decided she's going to keep it. Ugh!

spk926, ugh! That is exactly what happened to me! I was never able to score one from cl. I got mine at BBB because ut was a return and a great price. Ive seen 3 like that since August. If you have a bbb, you could get lucky. Im sorry cl hasn't worked out.
Rant - H and DD are driving me nuts. DD has some sort of virus and she is a total stage 5 clinger. She won't let me put her down, is only happy being held, but wants to move all over the place while being held. She is also teething, so she's just an all around beast. So H decided to go out tonight. Not a big deal, but he left two hours before bedtime, leaving me with the monster.
Rave - DD fell asleep in her swing, so I finally get some quiet time. I am planning to curl up on the couch with the DJ Tanner Hallmark movie and I am going to eat Mac and cheese and drink apple ale and IDGAF. Also, I got the FP Learning Home I wanted to get dd for Christmas. It was out of stock at TRU, but I found it on CL for $10.
Rant--I have some terrible illness that is making me nauseous, feverish, and exhausted. At first I thought it was just from eating too much Thanksgiving, but now I'm worried it's the mono coming back.
For the record, this means that during the month of November Mr. Smock and I both got mono, DD had a cold, Mr. Smock caught a cold from work, and now I'm dying of a mystery illness. Rave--Mr. Smock has been doing everything except breastfeeding for DD so that I could nap all afternoon. And I'm going to bed again as soon as I feed her.

I intro'd a long time ago, but I figured I'd just dive in this time.
Rant: We move to Wisconsin next weekend and I'm a weird mix of being overwhelmed and numb. We have movers, but I still have to sort things before they show up. DH is back there for the week and comes back late Friday. We leave Saturday morning. Three days in the car with an infant scares the shit out of me.
Rave: DD has long hair and I bought her the Crave Detangling Brysh from Amazon. It really works! Finally something that should really be labelled "No More Tears". I also found a box of diapers that I had hidden when we listed the house. It was a close second to finding actual treasure.
Rant: DD (7 weeks old) has decided she hates DH. It isn't anything he's doing; she'll pretty much start crying as soon as he touches her and stop as soon as he passes her to me. It's really hard on me and sad for DH. Please tell me this will pass quickly?
Rave: We went to our second Thanksgiving today and it was really fun. Plus we got more leftovers!
rant- sFIL is skipping DS's second birthday party to watch the fucking Browns and Bengals. I purposely started the party at noon so they'd have time to get here, get food, and get settled before kick off. I've even go so far as to do gifts and cake at half time before so he doesn't have to miss a second.
rave- DH and I had an awesome dinner sans kids tonight.
Rave-my mother is safely 700 miles away from me after visiting for 5 days. That's horrible to rave about but we get along much better having a phone relationship vs. In person.
Rant - we had to do this elaborate gift card scheme at the mall today in order to pay for DD's first party tomorrow. In MMM style, I had all my ducks in a row and calculations done before we got there. Sure enough, my husband with his "I don't care" attitude swapped the cards and now I'm nervous we stand to lose a $200 credit toward the bill tomorrow. He's all "$200, no big deal" and I want to clobber him. Luckily even the IL's took my side and told him um $200 is a big deal and FIL is going to help out so I will hopefully get my $200 credit tomorrow.
Rave - tomorrow is DD's first birthday party! I can't wait to dress her up in her gold outfit and accessories and have my capellini with scampi sauce and almond joy cake!

Rant - I miss Christmas shopping for a lot of people and shopping in person. In my family I only buy for my parents and I always give my Dad season tickets to the minor baseball team and this year, my mom wants a Fitbit and some photo grandparent gifts. DH's family does lists and everyone is very detailed. Nothing I can buy locally, but we have to ship it to them. We only buy for seven people now excluding our very young children. Although it is very MM.
Rave - DH and I watched a White Christmas tonight -- it's one of my favorite movies and my favorite Christmas movie of all time. It just puts me in a wonderful holiday mood.
Rant: I'm so sick of being sick. Sinus infection cleared and turned into asthma horror and now I have a cold and I can't take anything good for it. Way to ruin a perfectly good long weekend, although I guess I'm glad I don't have to go to work.
Rave: we found our Luke's Diner, LOL. Little diner near our house, only open for breakfast and lunch, super cheap (3 of us can eat a ton for $15), not too crowded. I think it's going to become a Sunday tradition.
Rant - BIL and his GF are annoyed with me because I asked him not to stop by today (his cousin was visiting us and the baby) b/c he was still sick with a fever, cough, and chills from last night. He apparently doesn't understand that taking DayQuil only reduces symptoms so just because you feel better after taking the meds doesn't mean you can't still get my baby sick.
Rave - My (baby) brother proposed to his AMAZING GF last night and she said YES!!

@supergreen, what mattress did you get? We need to get a new one for our guest room, preferably a firm with a pillow top
Odonata, that makes me so mad. My mom is like that too and so are my older relatives. Also she got all huffy when I told her I didn't want a lot of visitors at the hospital this time when the babies are born, you know, smack in the middle of cold and flu season.
persa This guy bitched and complained all last night about how sick he was, how he had a high fever, and his aches, pains, and chills (sounds like flue to me!) and then was all "oh, yeah I was still sick this morning but I took meds and feel better now." Nope, not how that works buddy. And he wasn't even coming over to see the baby or us, he just wanted to be with his cousin who is visiting from CA and wanted to see the baby again before she left tomorrow. I get it that he doesn't see her much, but I'm sorry, you can't come to my house if you're that sick! Especially if it's not even been 24 hours since you started symptoms.
Rant: My back/hip is still killing me. I couldn't get out of bed until 6:00 pm today, because it was too painful and it took a day of muscle relaxers and Vicodin to get to that point.
Rave: H has been amazing through this all. He took care of Ollie all night and again all day. Before he went to bed, he made me dinner, prepared all the bottles I would need, and prepped Ollie's medicine, so I wouldn't have to be up any longer than I absolutely needed to be. He is such a rock star. I literally don't know what I am going to do when he goes back to work on Sunday and I will be home alone.

DS is 12 weeks. He wouldn't let DH hold him from 7-current in the evening without SCREAMING. If DH is home during the day he can hold him. If he works no way. Craziest thing.

We got a Perfect Sleeper. It is firm, but no pillow top. Our old mattress is a pillow top and only lasted 7 years before the pillow top conformed to each of our bodies. Now there's SuperGreen and Mr.Green-shaped indentations, which are hard to roll out of and hurt DH's back. We won't buy a pillow top again.
