I am such a science geek. So, I lack either the gene responsible for making asparagus pee or the gene that makes you smell it. I didn't even know asparagus pee was a thing until H told me about it a few years ago. Ever since I found out, I've been dying to know which gene I don't have.
Well, when H finally got home this evening, he picked up DD and immediately said, "OMFG, what did you feed her?? Asparagus?" Yes, I fed her some at lunch. I ran over to smell her diaper and couldn't smell anything other than the usual pee diaper smell. So now I know I lack the gene that makes you smell asparagus pee. I'm irrationally excited over this!
(I could technically also lack the "make asparagus pee" gene, but I have yet to convince H to smell my pee to figure it out )
You are awesome!!! I find this fascinating too. I can't smell asparagus pee and can't convince H to smell my pee either.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders about asap arparagus pee. Ha!
My parents took DD this evening so we could have a date: saw Mockingjay and then out for burgers and beer at a dive bar. So fun!
Also, we tried to do a photo shoot with DD (for Christmas cards) this morning at home and it was a fucking disaster. She wouldn't smile and kept running away from us; 90% of the pictures were just a big blur. Sigh. I don't want to cough up the $$ to pay a professional photographer, but I might just have to do it to get one suitable photo.
shelbyann Why do we have such crappy sleepers? DD finally fell asleep at 10:30 and that was with me forcing her to take her last bottle. She often refuses and I have to hold her down and get it into her mouth and then she will finally take it. It's like she's hungry but she's so damn busy that she doesn't even want to bother with eating or sleeping.
No wait, she's was up 20 minutes later at 10:50 and inconsolable. MIL is singing to her in the loft trying to put her back to sleep. She did this same exact routine yesterday. Granted she's had a fever but I thought that would make her sleep more, not less! She's been pushing her bedtime to past 10 the past week anyways. This is really hard.
Is it bad that I really really hope her fever is gone by tomorrow so she can attend her first day at daycare on Monday?
