My dad is all that's left on my Christmas shopping list. We aren't doing anything extravagant, just a small $25 - $30 exchange between us and my folks. I need some non alcoholic gift ideas! I'm super stumped with him this year now that we aren't doing boozey gifts. Any ideas?
- rubber-sole slippers - coffee mugs / travel mugs - leather wallet - coffee table books - food (ie, assortment of hot sauces or gourmet condiments) - experiences (ie, dinner and a movie with my sis and I, a cooking class at whole foods, etc.)
A nice sweatshirt from my alma mater. He wears the crap out of them and loves talking to people about where his kids went to school. (I just went to state schools...nothing impressive, but he's proud anyway.)
Food gifts always go over big with my dad, specially cashews or anything peanut butter flavored. My parents loved a little $25 gift card I gave them to their local pizza delivery place with a $5 bill attached for tip money. They held it until a time when neither felt well but pizza appealed to them. They called me after they finished dinner that night because they were so happy
I almost always get my dad a restaurant gc. This year is an exception, but I'm getting him sheep blankets (as in little coats for his sheep) so im sure that's not really helpful to many people.
Things my FIL likes;
Movie gift cards Puzzles Warm flannels or sweatshirts for working outside Favorite snack foods that my notoriously thrifty MIL won't let him buy bc she thinks they are too expensive Magazine subscription

All my dad asked for is golf balls and ghirardelli chocolates-his fave Lol I know we will also take him to dinner and golf when he visits and still need something else but he wants nothing. I'd love to find a pic of him and my mom to frame for him too.

Golf balls. Golf polo shirts (He's going to Hawaii in late March). Travel mugs since he loses them all the time. Long underwear gear (helly hanson undershirts). Warm socks for snow clearing. Sweaters.

This is genius and I can't believe I never thought of this.
My dad loves to rent movies (it's basically his hobby, it's weird lol). So I bought this tub at Dollar Tree that looks like a popcorn box and I'm filling it with candy (Christmas and some movie theater boxes) and a box of Joe Joes cause he heard us talk about them and they don't have TJs and then I'm sticking in a gift card for his favorite video store and one for the Papa Murphys 2 doors down from the movie store that he loves too.
For my fil we usually get him a new flannel shirt, some sort of flashlight or little radio because he loves those things (this year we got him a battery powered lantern from Home Depot). Other hits have been an electric throw blanket, thick warm socks, and food is always good too.

I was thinking I'm going to get him a collection of salts, but after this thread (and him saying not to get him anything - not happening), I'm thinking I'll get fancy roasted cashews or almonds or something. He likes that stuff and it's consumable.
I'm also giving him and my mom a gift card that can be used at a number of restaurants in the Outer Banks, since they just bought their retirement home there and will be vacationing there until the big move.
