Let's ignore the fact that the holidays are just about the worst time to try to lose weight.
I need to start focusing on eating better, and low carb appeals to me the most because I can still eat cheese Any go-to meals and snacks? Tips and advice appreciated!
I eat non-fat plain Greek yogurt for breakfast with a couple of tablespoons of high protein granola, chia seeds, and a half a banana.
For a snack I have plain almonds and a clementine (apple would be better but I'm allergic)
Lunch I like a vegan veggie burger from TJ's that's low in carbs with Ezekiel bread and guacamole
Second snack is veggies and hummus
Dinner is veggie stir fry with a small amount of brown rice
It's not super low carb but it's pretty reasonable and mostly carbs from good sources. I have GD this pregnancy and have managed my glucose levels really easily eating this with some variations.

Jalapeñomel I've never been successful with paleo, but general tips are welcome!
@starry, I am not an egg fan, but I am trying. Thanks for the meatball recipe--I was looking for one! Induction is one week? Do you have a link to a guide of some sort?

So we do modified, because we eat dairy and drink copious amounts of booze. Otherwise, we *try* (I don't count the holidays, lol) to eat no processed foods, avoid all unnatural sugars, soy, corn, grains, legumes, etc. I made it 22 days in the Whole30, but quit, because it was totally fucking with me (although I did it because I was having major dizzy spells every time I stood up, and I assumed it was from something I ate...I never got to the bottom of it, but the dizzy spells have decreased as of lately).
we decided to do whole30 in December. i already regret it i might do modified whole30 though. we are doing it for my h. he really needs an overhaul. i eat too much sugar so i am happy to cut it out.
we normally eat low or no carb already. it's honestly not bad. we make lots of smoothies and i eat a lot of eggs and bacon. if you don't love eggs, maybe try making a frittata? that way you have veggies in it too and even cheese.
the biggest thing that helps me is to make big batches of stuff and to prep. i don't love cooking and by 6pm i do not want to cook. so if i cook when i feel like it on an afternoon it's easier.
@jalopenomel i have been having crazy dizzy spells too. i think it's sugar or caffeine but i can't figure it out. i think even if we don't stick to full whole30 after this i will keep us on the paleo track. we already don't have dairy. it's eating out and frozen tjs meals that get me.

This is such good advice, but I don't like leftovers/reheated things, so it makes so many things more difficult. I really think I just need to get over it.

@vicmo for salads, what kind of lettuce/greens do you use? Toppings? For some reasons salads never appeal to me unless they're made by someone else, but that's usually because I don't really have toppings for them. It ends up being spinach+cheese+oil and vinegar. Boring!

I find heating things up on the stove or in the oven instead of the microwave helps me not hate the leftovers as much.
I really just try to avoid processed foods and sugar as much as possible, and that makes such a huge difference for me. I like the 100 days of real food website for recipe and snack ideas because even though she's not necessarily low carb, she does focus on healthier eating all around.
We have this spiral slicer thing that allows use to make noodles out of zucchini. It is awesome and so much better than spaghetti squash. We do pad Thai or noodle bowls with zucchini noodles.
I normally hate one-use kitchen appliances, but that thing rocks!
Snack ideas: Apple/celery with natural almond butter Nuts Baked pumpkin seeds Veggies and dip Cheese "Green smoothie"
Desserts: Fake tiramisu: ricotta cheese, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, slivered almonds, 1 pckg stevia mixed Sugar free fudgsicle Berries with homemade whipped cream Small square dark chocolate

where did you get the slicer? i have zucchini noodles planned but have no way to do it.
my number one problem with eating this way is that i have no kitchen tools. not even a food processor!

Follow up: how do you go about starting a diet when you still have a BUNCH of crap in the house? Finish it first? Toss it? Assume you have no willpower to resist if it's in the house at all.

I send it to work with my DH . Either he eats it or he sets it out in the break room and it's gone in record time.
the only big thing i tossed was the candy cane joe joe's
i tossed a few other things that were almost empty anyway, and the rest we just finished. we planned a date ahead of time to start so i made sure we ate as much of what we had as possible. i barely grocery shopped.
Just remember, when you are eating low carb, don't try to eat low fat too. Having some fats in your diet will help you feel more full. Plus all the "low/no fat" products usually have added sugar.
For lunches I usually do some deli meat and a salad. Usually just a caesar salad (no croutons) but when I'm feeling ambitious my favorite salad is with bacon, hard boiled egg, cheese, cucumber, avocado, etc.
For dinners we do a lot of meat plus a bunch of veggies. Sometimes I'll make something like fajitas or taco fixings, but eat it with a fork, without the tortilla.
I've been trying to do lower carb for the last month, with varying success.
I do eggs for breakfast with turkey sausage. I make it the night before when I'm also prepping E's meals for daycare. I 2nd a crustless quiche/frittata, they really heat well.
Lunch varies, but when I do a lot of salads in the summer I do spinach, feta, red onion, sometimes craisins, cucumbers, carrots, and grilled chicken or tuna. Snacks are usually some cottage cheese.
Dinner I just stick with meat and veggies.
It's hard since DH and E aren't doing it and don't need to. My willpower is tested and I've been failing more than I prefer. I also still eat some fruit, usually as my 3pm crash snack. An apple will keep me full until dinner.
