He is going on just over 10 hours now. He has been vomiting and having diarrhea. He is getting dehydrated and having full body cramps. He has tried sipping on a little water but hasn't been able to keep anything down.
I still think it is from overindulgence of holiday foods. He has food intolerances as is, and will have these same symptoms sometimes, just never this bad.
It's like for a bit he will feel a little better, but he has hit a downhill spot again and has been having constant cramping and can barely leave the bathroom. I just wish there was more I could do for him. Hoping this passes soon and he is able to get it out of his system.
The full body cramps can definitely be a sign of dehydration. If he continues to not be able to keep anything down you might want to consider taking him to the ER. They can re-hydrate him and also give him IV anti-nausea meds to help calm things down.
Oh no! DH and I literally just got over the same thing, so I know how miserable it is! I had the most luck keeping sips of Gatorade down- that and tiny bites of applesauce. Dehydration is definitely a major concern, so keep a close eye out and don't be afraid to head to the ER for an IV if you need
We've been talking about the ER just in case. We were talking and just remembered that we went to MIL's house yesterday and were around SIL and her kids who have all had a 24 hour bug recently so it might be that as well. Hopefully not because I really don't want to get sick. I thought they were all better but apparently the youngest niece is still not 100% better. Didn't find that out until yesterday. Ugh, sometimes I feel like we have to avoid them all winter long.
I had my mom bring over some Gatorade and I watered it down a bit and he has been sipping on it. So far so good. Hoping he can keep that down a little at a time. The one thing I will really miss about my old house is my mom is less then 5 minutes away. It really comes in handy with something like this. I didn't want to leave DH alone even long enough to run to the quick trip so I called her and she went and got it and brought it over. Still have my mama taking care of me (heart).

bk1 H and I got this when I was 27 weeks pregnant it was a total bummer. IF you do get sick you will get dehydrated much faster so contact your ob ASAP if you get sick. I ended up w contractions and an 8 hour obs stay because I let it go on waaaaaaaay too long before calling.

He seems to be doing better. I posted this right as he was really feeling sick again but right after that he started to feel a little relief. He has been slowly sipping on Gatorade and was able to sleep a little bit. He hasn't vomited again since my OP. It lasted about 11 hours total. For now I've been cleaning the house and watching Netflix in the living room as he is resting in the bedroom.
H had food poisoning a few years ago and it was pretty similar sounding. Not fun at all! Hope he feels better soon!
DH and I had food poisoning at the same time a few years ago. It was sooo awful. It happened from a funeral dinner at his mom's church after his grandma's funeral. Half the family was sick. It was very similar to this, but I've checked and no one else got sick so who knows.
He is wanting to eat something! This is awesome. I think all day yesterday he had just a couple crackers.
I think his throwing up last night was a one time thing. It had been several hours since he had. He is staying home from work today but so far I still feel fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
hopefully he's feeling better! it's a good sign that he seems to want to eat. I agree that dehydration is what you want to watch for but it seems yall are on the mend. I ended up in the ER several years ago for something similar for some IV fluids and phenergan, but I passed out at home first before we went in.
He went into Minor Emergency today. Work required it. Usually they don't, but this is inventory week and it's an automatic "you're fired!" if you don't show up. Doctor said it was most likely the 24 hour bug going around and he seems to be on the upswing of it.
DH had some chicken broth earlier. He tried to eat a couple noodles but that didn't work. At least he is getting something with nutrients in him. He is now camped out on the couch watching Netflix.
