While at my parents for TG, we put G in the jumperoo they're getting him for Christmas. He looooves it. Like is obsessed with it - if he sees it, he'll dive towards it. It made the trip back with us, lol.
I think I remember that they're not supposed to spend more than 15 minutes a day in it - is this true?
DD had an exersaucer type thing that she loved. I always let her decide how long she wanted to spend in it. Some days she would only be content a few minutes, some days it was over a half hour. If she would entertain herself independently for any length of time I took full advantage of that.

I've heard no longer than 15-20 minutes *at a time*. So L sometimes gets a couple of sessions in one day, but separated by a few hours. She loves that thing!

I'm a long time lurker but thought I should jump in on this. I'm a pediatric physical therapist and I tell all the families I work with to limit it to 15-20 minutes at a time if they already have one and not to buy one if they don't already have one. They can be really hard on the hips just like a "crotch dangler" as it's basically putting the child in the same position. In addition to that, the jumping motion in these type of devices promotes an extension pattern which is the opposite of the motion we want to encourage in babies. I personally avoided all such devices in my own home but didn't mind that my in-home daycare provider used such devices as she had multiple children to keep safe at a time.

I was told the same as what @michelle82 said by the PT that we see at L's neonatal follow up clinic. I got rid of the jolly jumper and we haven't taken the exersaucer out of the box yet. Not sure what we are going to do with that one.

I too had to get to of both my exersaucer and jumperoo on the recommendation of Sick Kids hospital after my DD was diagnosed with hip dyplasia. I miss those things as she absolutely loved them. Since September we haven't used any containment devices and it can be hard now she is so mobile.
When she uses them, she normally did 10-15 mins a day in each.
Keep in mind that PT's see kids with problems. If your kid has a problem, you should follow advice to limit or not own stuff like a jumperoo.
My kids had no issues. I used it as much as they wanted, pretty much. I'd take 'em out after 20 min or so, but sometimes it was 2-3 x a day. And guess what? Still no issues. I think it's one of those things that can exacerbate something but is unlikely to cause something.
My pediatrician always asks how much time he spends in it and makes disapproving noises when I say about 45 minutes a day (total). I get it, they are bad, but I have a 3 year old who is a greater danger to the unsecured baby than the jumperoo. I have to get stuff done/shower/pee/use the stove sometimes.
