You're invited to brunch at a friend's house and when you ask what you can bring, she tells you "bacon." What do you bring? ETA - to those on their phones the choices are "raw" or "cooked"
I'd cook it at home just before heading over so I'd arrive with a play filled with fresh and crispy bacon. No one needs guests to make a party more difficult with raw ingredients.
I don't understand why someone would ask for bacon to be brought in the first place. It is not something you really want to cool down - it should be served fresh and hot, or at least be cooked and kept warm in the warming drawer or oven.
Unless it is needed to be tossed in something else, in which case she should ask for cooked bacon, chopped x size, etc.
Usually I would say that you should bring whatever it is already cooked, assembled, whatever. However, bacon is a really weird request. And cold bacon just isn't yummy. I would bring it raw along with paper towels and a plate so that I could cook it in the microwave. I would try to create as little mess as possible and definitely clean up afterwards. If you are close with her I might also just ask her what her preference is.

You should make something like a bacon casserole. Or bacon wrapped figs. Something like that. Raw, cooked, it seems like a no win, if brought by itself.
I see this request along the lines of, "we are having a party, can you bring the hot dogs?"
Would the cooked bacon-bringers really bring cooked hot dogs in that instance?
See, but then you assume that hot dogs are the star of the show, and there will be a grill to cook them on. For brunch, maybe she's using all of the burners and the oven at the same time? That would be my only concern - if I'd be able to cook the bacon at her house.
Interesting that you guys think it's a weird request - all my friends ask me to bring bacon to brunch because they love the candied bacon I make (that is served lukewarm, so it travels well). Anyway, H had people over for football this weekend and asked a (single, male) friend of his to bring bacon and he showed up and just handed us a package of raw cured bacon, which I thought was so random.
Well I personally don't eat hot dogs, so there's that.
In HS we had to work at mile high to raise money for our basketball team. We were in charge of one of the generic food stalls and had to boil hotdogs. IMO hotdogs in water is one of the grossest things ever (and I actually like hotdogs).

Maybe because he thought you'd make your beloved candied bacon with it?

I don't think he knows about it, I only make it for my friends LOL! Really I think he's just lazy.
