I'm in a wedding in a couple of weeks, and just asked the bride what she would like us to do with our makeup. Her response was: "I would like your makeup to be fresh and subtle - something nice for a summer outdoorsy wedding".
Now, I obviously want to do nice "occasion" makeup, so more than I wear day to day, but I don't want to not be "subtle".
If you were me, what might this look like? My concern is mostly with eye makeup, as I typically wear at least one shadow color, black eyeliner, and mascara on the daily. PIPs appreciated!!
But maybe with a bit more mascara. Pretty much all my pinterest pins that are beauty related are somehow "fresh" haha but I'm not adventurous when it comes to makeup...

I agree with Kate Bosworth and the 1st two that Adlove posted, but the lip on the last two don't seem very "subtle" to me. I'd do a pinkish gloss type rather than a matte nude.
Kate Middleton does liner, but "natural" makeup look.
Yeah, I'm more of a gloss girl in general, so I would probably go for that vs matte Kare, good thinking!
Another question...if I'm playing up my eyes, would it be too much to throw on some lash clusters (maybe 2 per eye) so they stand out more since I wouldn't really be doing any color for shadow? Like Leighton's look above (although she's doing more lashes). I did these for my wedding and it looked subtle enough to me, haha. I'll see if I can find a pic to show you for reference...

I think lashes would be fine - the middle pic Cab posted is very "lashy", but it's very pretty and I'd call that subtle.
I think as long as you steer clear of funky colors you're good. Think the original Cover Girl type look. Neutral shadows & liner, pink/peach lip and voila!
I like this one - it's more makeup than normal, but I think it's still subtle and would show up in pictures nicely.
This is gorgeous!
I'd probably do something like this. While I really like the ones posted further up the page, I don't think they have enough color. You could look super pale and washed out in pictures if you don't put some color on.

Hmm....maybe it's just me, but I interpret the bride's instructions as, "Look presentable and pretty, but please don't upstage me." I think the PIP look is gorgeous, but it's 10x more makeup than even the bride will have on.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say that?
On a side note, I really don't think having amazing makeup could ever upstage the bride. Everyone will know who she is, regardless of how the BMs look.

bride does not require a MUA for BMs
bride offers a vague description for a suggested makeup look
wedding is described as "outdoorsy"
past experience as guest and BM in similar fetes
And I do think that good makeup and hair have the ability to outstage a bride in a group photo. Yes, the bride will be wearing a fab white gown and veil, but if all she has on is foundation, blush and mascara, why would any BM would to look like she's been in the makeup chair for hours?

Well you can't *require* makeup for your BMs. If you do, then you need to pay. When I got married a few months ago, I didn't give our MUA any direction on how to do the makeup of my MOH or mom. I just said 'make them look amazing.' She did! I can see that 'outdoorsy' can usually be associated with someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but we don't know that. The OP didn't say that the bride won't be getting her makeup done.
And on a side note, makeup, just like everything else, can really vary by region, customs & circles. My wedding makeup was a bit more dramatic version of that picture. 9/10 people told me that they loved that my makeup was so natural & light. Around here, that's subdued. Clearly it's not in other places.
