You can name songs if you like.
For me I'm more traditional. I grew up listening to Bing Crosby and the like. I also like Classical ie, Charlotte Church and Josh Groban and I now love Michael Buble'. Oh and I can't forget, I'm going to make it a tradition, my lo will be listening to John Denver and The Muppets Christmas
Classical. Most especially the Carol of the Bells.
Yes. it's the only song I ever really learned to play on the piano with any proficiency because I was a lazy lazy lazy ass student but I LOVE that song. I can't not stop what I'm doing and just listen when it comes on.
I like old songs. God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen, Deck the Halls, O Little town of Bethlehem, It came upon a Midnight Clear, Greensleeves, O Come all ye faithful....etc.
If it sounds like it should be sung by a bunch of people dressed like this:
then it's my kind of Christmas song. I still don't even know what this dominic or shoes nonsense is.
My favorite Christmas song is "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues. My dad liked it a lot and used to play it in the summertime. When Matt Pinfield was on NYC radio a few years ago he would play this song a lot during the holidays, and I felt like the season really kicked off once he played it for the first time. I saw him on the train last spring and I really wanted to tell him that I missed hearing that song and his show, but he was talking to someone and I didn't want to be a jerk.
My favorite classic Christmas song is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and my favorite version is the one by James Taylor. Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" is a close second.
I don't particularly like Mariah Carey, but I get really excited when radio stations start playing "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
I've been humming The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' cover of "2000 Miles" to myself for two days now. MH and I got up to Boston after Christmas to see their annual concert, so their music in general reminds me of Christmas. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYJXCFk9lL8
Billboard.com is telling me that "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" is currently the country's #2 holiday song. (huh)
I'd like "Santa Baby" to disappear from the airwaves.

mbcdefg, I'd like Santa Baby and all of Mariah Carey Christmas songs burned. Although, my one concession for Santa Baby would be the one from Love Actually, that one is cute.

Eartha Kitt should be the only one allowed to sing this song.
I don't have *a* favorite x-mas song. I do have very specific favorite performers for most x-mas songs. And the default answer is Andy Williams.
Holly Jolly Christmas is my absolute favorite Christmas song, but I like most of them, even obnoxious and cheesy ones. I also think I'm the only person who actually likes Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney.
My Christmas playlist is: Michael Buble, Burl Ives, Amy Grant, December by George Winston, And Winter Came by Enya (obsessed with O Come O Come Emmanuel on this album), Sufjan Stevens, She & Him, Mannheim Steamroller, Soundtracks of various Christmasy movies, and yes, the Chipmunks.
Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., etc. I am not sure how I feel about Michael Buble. John Denver and the Muppets. Vince Guaraldi Trio on the Charlie Brown Christmas album Amy Grant John Michael Talbot Some of the early Mannheim Steamroller stuff (their Veni, Veni Emmanuel is awesome).
Basically, traditional carols, big band/jazz hits, and sacred songs. I go old school.
