Oh, there was another occasional poster who I never met, but I had a hunch that she worked at the same company I previously worked at based on her posts about the location & nature of her work. She had posted her full name a few times, so I was able to confirm. I shot her a pm, but she never responded.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
So...is there anybody here who would NOT want me to scream their screenname and run at them if I saw them in public? Either with or without hugging as required (sushi)? Because you should say that now in case there is ever a chance that I see you somewhere.
Everybody knows I spend way too much time on a message board so I have no qualms explaining to friends and family that I met people on the internet. My mom has come to half my GTG's for shit's sake. I forget that other people dont' like real life to find out about their internet life.
samsies.
And I actually did that. When I went to sushi's house last year to help wrap the gifts for kids hurt too there was another lady there that I ASSumed was from the charity. When I formally introduced myself to her she said, "I'm firstname. You know me better as rootbeerfloat ." So I immediately screamed and hugged her. Lol.
I'm both interested in and horrified by the idea of this thread. I kind of can't imagine that there's not someone here who recognizes me, but I haven't been made aware of it thus far.
I was actually reunited with my dear childhood camp friend toriwc through the old place.
Andplusalso I would be so sad if any one of you came to oahu and didn't let me take you out for a drink or two. Or a pitcher of drinks in @smorriso 's case. :-)
Oh, I just remembered that katietornado and I figured out pretty quickly that we have a bunch of mutual friends. She and MH worked for the same company but not at the same time.
I think....ttt? And I went to the same summer camp. But I think shes just a hair enough older than me that we never overlapped. Or we just nwver went the same session? It might not have been ttt. I cant remember.
decemberwedding07 & I probably played each other in high school field hockey.
And her school probably (definitely) won.
Also, I randomly found out an IRL high school friend of mine is IRL friends with a famous/infamous bumpie. No idea how they know each other but it's not through TB/TK. It's still weird everytime the bumpie comments on friend's Instagram posts, etc.

And thank goodness for the hugging because there's nothing more awkward than identifying yourself by an Internet screen name.
So, I don't pay enough attention to details in people's posts unless I interact with them a lot (I say that to set up the following story).
About a month ago, I discovered someone who I've known for 10+ years is a reg here. There was a semi-mass friending on MMM, and I was like "Whoa! One of you is FB friends with my IRL friend." @velar Fricative was like "She's a reg here, you crazy person." (Only she said it much nicer)
Once I knew that I knew her, I started noticing all the stuff in her posts that should have clued me in to who she was. But without the facebook friending, I don't think I ever would have put two and two together.
I wondered how you figured me out!! I had a fake FB account for a while just to avoid this situation but then thought Eh who cares. I'm glad it's you though and not some of the other possibilities on my friends list. Does anyone IRL know you're here? There is one other person here that I know but I don't think you know her since you're not FB friends.

I recognized a cousin's wife on a disney board once. I recognized her baby. The best part about it was that she had created this completely alternative life where she got married in front of the castle, had a honeymoon to each of the disney parks and was wealthy. None of it was true. That was my internet entertainment for a long while. I did eventually clue her in because she started posting way too personal info and I was worried about her safety.
And as a resident of MD, that lived in DC and went to school in VA, I'm now worried I should not have unlurked...

I'll never forget that. Creeping on profiles on the local board, and I think I said out loud, "Oh my gosh, that's Stealthmom!!" So glad to have been reunited with you and your beautiful family, old friend.
did I ever tell you becca donadee and I found each other through tk? I actually watched her daughter at her wedding. She kind of disapoeared after a while. *waves if becca lurks*
I don't remember who the poster is anymore, it might have even been someone from ML, but she posted about some health related issues, something that was specifically happening to her that night and made her go to the hospital to get checked out. Later that night I was reading a patient's chart at work (I had a legitimate reason to for my role that night at work) and everything that poster had said matched this patient's history and complaints. I almost sent a PM but didn't want to break any laws or creep her out. At first I just thought it was some crazy weird coincidence but I know it had to be the same person. And based on her post I know she was by herself that night so that was why I was thinking about reaching out. But yeah that would have been creepy.

Sooooo...you're not mad at me for friending deej which is how you were discovered? Whew. Glad she's nice and normal lol!

Only my husband. And he doesn't really "get it." I don't really want IRL people to know about this place. Even if I'm talking about something from here, I say things like "A friend told me." I don't specify that it's an internet person.
I totally do the same thing. MH thinks I'm insane for being involved on the board. iammalcolmx won him over with filet but he still thinks message boards are weird.
