I do wish I'd had the opportunity to see my placentas. I'm sure they were gorgeous, lol.
I asked my OB to see mine and he was super excited to show me and point everything out. It was pretty cool, but I didn't exactly want to wrap it up and take it home.
It was, however, the only moment in my entire L&D that my husband turned gray and had to excuse himself.

DD made us promise to take pictures of the placenta when I had DS. I had DH do it with his phone because, while it was interesting enough to look at the placenta once, I didn't want to have to scroll through those photos on my own phone in the future.
Btw, DD was kind of disappointed in what it looked like.
I made my ob promise to not show me the placenta. In fact, I am pretty sure I mentioned to both a nurse and the ob who delivered the placenta that I did not want to see it. I'm sure they thought I was crazy but the nurse that taught our birth class was big on seeing the placenta so I was extra careful to make sure they knew that I didn't want to see it.
Oddly enough, I'm not into birth related jewelry at all, but I'm really into that thing where they take cremains and squish them into diamonds. I seriously considered it when my dad passed.
Bah. I actually gagged a bit reading this and I am not squeamish at all.
I'm in the camp of "looked at the placenta, pretty amazing" but hell no I'm not gonna wear it. I carried that thing around inside me for 8-9 months and am happy to be rid of it.

What a cool kid! I love that she was so interested in the placenta.
FTR, I was fascinated by mine and saw them both times. Both doctors were so excited to have someone who cared that they gave me guided tours of them :-). I did not, however, have any desire to take them home or preserve them in any way.

I guess this would be the place where I say I have a dehydrated piece of the umbilical cord from each of my children. Ace's is actually really cool, because she used the part that was knotted.
