Anyone have any experience with preeclampsia? How long were you able to stay pregnant after your diagnosis? At what point/blood pressure did you have to go to the hospital and/or be induced?

I had very atypical preeclampsia so take this with a grain of salt. I had protein in my urine and high blood pressure, but NO swelling. I had a chronic low- to mid- grade headache. They put me on blood pressure meds. The first one made me throw up (and I can't remember what it was called) then they put me on the maximum dose of labetalol and that made me nauseous but at least I kept it down and my blood pressure was pretty steady at 140/90 on the max dose. High enough for them to deliver me at 37 weeks because it wasn't good, but not so high they thought I was going to have a stroke. I was in the hospital three times during the pregnancy for magnesium treatments.
I had it but was pg with triplets. I had it for 2-3 weeks before going on bed rest in the hospital around 32w and delivering at 33w. I also ended up with HELLP. Both scan be dangerous so just take it easy and check your BP a lot.
I was diagnosed at 36 weeks 3 days ish and was induced on the day i made 38 weeks. I was immediately put on strict bed rest and blood pressure medicine. My midwife and ob were wonderful but i think i waited to long and i wasnt responding to the blood pressure meds very well so i went to the hospital when we found out my protiens had tripled. I was put on magnesium for 3 days. Try to take it very easy and dont push it to long, i promise baby is going to be fine, he needs a healthy mom too. Good luck and i'm sorry your dealing with this.
At my 40 week appointment I had very high protein in my urine. I had normal blood pressure and no swelling. The doc sent me to the hospital for an induction rather than waiting several days for a urine collection (I was in agreement). DS was born the next day.
In the end I didn't make it past pregnancy-induced hypertension, but I was being carefully monitored for pre-e (twins though, so automatically at high-risk). My doctor hospitalized me for 2 days to do magnesium IV, a 24hr urine catch, and a bunch of blood work and a cardio consult to confirm I did not actually have pre-e and was not at imminent risk for having a stroke. Then he prescribed me the max dose of labetalol and some zoloft. My BP was up to 170s/105ish on meds. But no protein in my urine.
Management of pre-e will vary drastically depending on when it is diagnosed. I was only 31 weeks when my BP spiked, so every day of keeping the pregnancy going really mattered. It's a much different equation at 37 weeks or 39 weeks, etc.
Water broke at 34 weeks, so I didn't get to develop real pre-e.
I was diagnosed at 32 weeks where I was immediately put on home bed rest. I saw my doctor twice a week and had weekly ultrasounds. At 35 weeks it was getting worse and I was put on hospital bed rest. The morning I turned 36 weeks (my doctor's goal the entire time!) the nurse came in and said this baby is coming out. I was started on pitocin and my water was broken. I had her 23 hours later.
The entire time I had extremely high BP, the swelling was unheard of (all the nurses came to see me it was so bad they wanted to see with their own eyes!) and obviously protein in my urine. While on home bed rest I had to take my BP at least twice a day. I also had to stay laying on my left side. Once in the hospital I had a catheter put in and I was only allowed on my left side. The only time I could get up during the day was to sit up in bed and eat (but the nurse would come back in if I wasn't eating fast enough and tell me to be done and get back down ) and to weigh me twice a day. It was horrible.

I was diagnosed at my 39 week appointment, which was a Friday. I was monitored that night and the next morning, and I came back Monday for an induction.
It had no real impact. My bp was 200/100 in labor but I never felt weird. It remained elevated for 4 weeks pp.
My blood pressure was way up on my last appointment at 39 weeks. They sent me to the hospital for monitoring and, though I had no swelling, my blood pressure and labs were enough to induce me, since it was only 3 days before my due date at that point. DD was born healthy and I seemed okay. We went home, but I ended up going to the emergency room with sky high blood pressure and a massive headache (like the worst I've ever had in my life) the day after we got sent home. I stayed in the hospital for monitoring while they put me on blood pressure meds and went home 24 hours later. It was hard because I had the PP hormones going like crazy and I reeeally didn't want to be in the hospital. They did at least get me into the mom/baby unit of the hospital, so it was better setup for a newborn, but I was not allowed to be left in the room with DD alone (because she was not a patient and the nurses technically weren't allowed to care for her at all), which just made it so hard. My blood pressure took a couple of months to go back down to normal, but I haven't had any issues since.
With DS1 I was diagnosed at 35 weeks and did one night of hospital monitoring and then was sent home on bed rest. I went my my Dr's office twice a week for BP checks and NST's. I was induced at exactly 37 weeks because my BP got too high. I wad on prednisone those two weeks for low platelets. No BP meds. Magnesium during labor and 24 afterwards ans it sucked big time.
The second time around my BP started getting elevated around 35 weeks again, but wasn't as bad. Started twice a weeks monitoring again and at 37w3d I went in for another induction since I was already 3 cm dilated and we didn't want my BP to get as high as last time and I wanted to avoid magnesium. Super fast and successful induction and overall enjoyable labor experience.
