Stayed the same really, but I was in the midst of marathon training, I also got pregnant a month later.
I think if you wean when you have a number of feedings still then it will have a bigger impact. When I weaned, DS was only nursing 1-2 times a day. So it was NBD.
I weaned DS at a point where I was nursing DD, so no change. Now I'm still nursing DD but only 2-3 x a day and I think the "free calories" stage is already over. I haven't gained much, but I will if I don't adapt to not eating whatever I want.
ETA: with my first I lost 25 lbs or so in the 9 months after DS1 was born with no work (ate somewhat healthy but still had dessert). Around a year I was down another 5 lbs so 5 under my prepreg weight. I stopped losing when we cut back on nursing at 13 months and when we weaned at 20 months I started gaining. Similar thing with my DS2 and now, with DS3, I am hoping to win the battle and keep the weight off.
I gained 5lbs over the heaviest point of my happy weight when M slowed down to about two feedings a day. He has been totally weaned for 6 months, and I am hanging on to those 5lbs, but have not gained more.
I was pregnant or breastfeeding nonstop for 5 years 2 month when I weaned M plus I am in my 40s. I need to figure out my new metabolism.
I never had great supply, but 2 weeks after DD was born I was within 5 pounds of pre-pg weight. I gradually gained months 2-4. I nursed for the last time almost a month ago, and I am now 20 pounds over pre-pg. She is 5+ months. We are going to Mexico tomorrow and when we get home I am going to focus on this.

Gained. Bfing made me super skinny (and starving). It took a few months to sort out a new metabolism and appetite. I had to track my meals for awhile to retrain myself to eat like a normal, non lactating 28 yr old woman.
Neither, but I did notice my hunger and thirst levels dropped immediately.
This exactly! DS was 15.5 months and I lost my weight early on and then maintained. I had no idea I was eating so much until I stopped nursing and couldn't finish "normal" amounts of food.
When I weaned DD1 (only partially BF, weaned at 15 months) I gained like 5 pounds immediately.
When I weaned DD2 (she was EBF and the BF with solids, no formula, weaned at 22 months) I gained like 30 pounds over the next 7 months (I was 8 weeks pregnant with DS so not a good indicator of anything)
When I weaned DS (also never had formula) I immediately lost 10 pounds or so.
I ended up at my pre-pregnancy weight. I had been 5 lbs below most of the time I was nursing. I didn't gain when I fully weaned, it happened once I dropped the bulk of nursing sessions.
Ugh I just weaned and I didn't get super skinny by bf. I'm still 15 lbs over pp weight I really hope I don't gain more. I suck at exercising and eating, especially since we dont have a kitchen right now.
I gained 7 pounds which I am trying to lose now:(. I loved breastfeeding because I could literally eat whatever I want without gaining weight so I think my weight gain is because I am having a hard time adjusting back to my normal.
I lost. Both times. I think my body holds on to extra water weight while nursing. Both times I lost 5 to 10 lbs within a month of completely weaning (the remaining pregnancy weight).

Gained 10 lb overnight practically. I was 15 lb under my pre-pg weight when I weaned DD at 18 mo. I am 15 lbs under now too and fully expect to gain it right back when DS weans ... which is one reason why I may never wean him.
I am probably mostly to blame for the gain. I can eat whatever I want when BF, pretty much, and either lose or maintain a weight as long as I moderately exercise. When I weaned DD, I had a hard time snapping myself out of the "I can eat whatever I want" mode. I will have to be more careful this time around.
