Wow! This was so informative! I also feel awful because I own a number of the offensive jeans. I just haven't put money toward pricey denim in a few years, but looks like I might need to grab a mirror and do so!
Thanks for sharing. I need to buy new jeans this year. I got some Express jeans I loved but the button popped off and a belt loop ripped so I wanna look elsewhere
The mono-butt (and also CT!) issue is interestingly enough, due to pattern changes that manufacturers make to cut costs in the fabric usage. It makes the hip and crotch curves straighter, which takes up less fabric, and therefore cuts costs. A lot of this happens because so many of this production is outsourced, and not just the sewing, but the pattern itself is too.
That was really interesting! I have to say though, I really despise the light colored stitching on a lot of the "good" jeans she showed. I think it makes them look cheap, even if they're not.

Wow. I thought I've noticed these issues with GAP and Old Navy jeans, but sort of thought it was just my body!
I did buy a new pair of Old Navy jeans last week. But I swear they are the best pair I've ever owned from there! The pocket place is best I've seen and they didn't stretch out as badly as I've experienced with my other Old Navy jeans.
I do intend on investing in nice jeans some day. I still have about 30 pounds to lose until I get to a good weight, so I'll be buying cheaper jeans until I get there.
Mav, I read that after I saw it on Pinterest last night. Time for me to re-evaulate my butt in my Gap jeans! Thankfully I just bought two pairs of Rerocks
As she said, it's not universal...I actually just had the exact opposite experience a few months ago. I've always bought my jeans at Express; I usually just order online without even trying them on, but I went to the store intending to buy 2-3 pairs. I couldn't find a single pair that fit my butt. They all squished my butt downward and the pockets were way down on my thighs. Plus the waist gapped open in the back, which never used to happen to me at Express. There happened to be a Gap across from Express in the mall, so I went in there on a whim, and ended up leaving with three pairs of jeans. I'd never tried on Gap jeans before, but now they're my favorites. I'm wearing the 1969 straight legs today, actually. And my butt is where is should be!
Great information. I LOVE my new Express Jeans. I didn't get the Rerock ones but now I want them. I am kicking myself for not buying two. I pinned it because I think lots of people need to see it. I would always default to the Old Navy Jeans. Cheap and okay construction..but now I realize the error of my ways.
Very interesting! I think I remember seeing something like this on Oprah years ago hah. Makes me want to try on all my jeans and photograph my ass. just kidding.
I also have never been a big fan of white or majorly contrasting stitching. What do I know? That last pic of the women wearing the exact same pair jeans one with dark stitching and one without is crazy . . . guess I am gonna have to go out and buy a pair.
I will say that I used to wear Gap jeans but only when I was losing weight and needed "disposable clothing." I actually love White House Black market jeans . . . now I am gonna run and look at the pockets and my tush in those pockets!
Yeah, sometimes too much white stitching makes me think Jersey Shore/Ed Hardy type of style.
But yeah, that post was very interesting! Although I have tried on $200 pair of jeans where the material is paper thin. That's annoying because any curve or flaw felt so exposed. So the lesson is...try on every pair of jeans at every store? Haha. This is why I hate shopping for denim!
Last year I bought 3 pairs of jeans from Guess that I got during their promotion period and they have been awesome! I get compliments on them all the time!

I love love love my dark jeans with contrast stitching. I've gotten many compliments and my friends were surprised I bought them from Burlington for only $15 a pair. I've had two friends and DH tell me how nice my booty looks in them, haha! Once I reach my goal weight I plan on investing in some good quality denim.
On another note, how awesome does her butt look in those dark jeans?!
JBrand and Paige both have little to no stitching on the pockets. Neither look great on me though. My best butt jeans are my AG Stilt jeans for sure. The first time I wore them my husband did a double take and asked me which jeans I was wearing. I was convinced.
I also like 7Fam, Hudson, Joe's, and COH. I had Antik back in the day and those looked really good on too. I have a couple pairs of Express jeans that look good too.
That is interesting and I have never been able to do ON jeans due to the stretch factor. Express jeans are my go-to ones and I dream someday of buying a pair of 7FAM.

Ha, I contemplated this as well.
And just sent this to all of my girlfriends and asked who's interested in a Vault party. Lol.
Thanks for sharing Mav!
Although i have to say, there are plenty of designer denims that don't work for me either.
And a side note, does anyone have experience as jean "bars". Besides department stores, we have a few places here where you go in and "order" what style/color/fit/etc yuo're looking for and then the stylist brings you options to try on. I mean, it's not much difference for a store, but at the same time is an interesting concept. thebluesjeanbar.com/about-our-bar/ (and it looks like their national)
