I've seen a few people mention mucinex pre-O, including Mushe's recent post. What is it supposed to do? I'm familiar with it from a having a cold stand point. (I'm going to google too, but thought I'd ask).
I haven't used Mucinex, but I do take Fertile CM and I see an improvement on my EWCM. I got pregnant after taking it for two Cycles (of course, I don't know if that's what did the trick). I'm taking it now that we're trying again after our m/c.

basically, it does what it's designed to do...thin out mucus. when you're sick, you need it to get that thick crap out of your lungs/sinuses....when you're TTC, it thins out mucus other places.
i start taking it with my prenatal and b complex about a week before O. and then i stop once FW is over. there's no harm in it, so i figure why not!
Honestly, I took it last month because I had a wicked bad cold and saw it when rifling through my medicine chest. The next day, BOOM, a ton of CM. I've had issues with not seeing any since my MMC, so I'm rolling with it.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
So.... it works. I picked some up last night and took it before bed. I'm just starting FW and usually have a good bit of EWCM but this morning there is an abundance.
Also, I can breathe out of my nose again so that's nice.
200 mg Guafinessin 2-3x daily starting 5 days before O and continuing through O is what I have heard. (That's the ingredient in Robitussin and Muc that causes the CM to thin out.)

There is absolutely zero research that backs that this has any effect (those claiming they were sick and it helped were likely pushing fluids as well- that DOES work).
It is a horrible idea to take meds off label without consulting a doctor. Just because it's over the counter doesn't make it a good idea.
And it doesn't work. If you have EWCM it will make it watery which is less fertile.
