Automatic gate fence? Any chance you could put one up at the end of your driveway?
Don't think that would make a difference. This is from a month or so ago when it happened. I don't own anything past the sidewalk, so I can't put anything in the street. Even if I had a gate, it wouldn't prevent anyone from parking in front of the gate that goes across the driveway.
No, but seriously, this exact scenario has happened three times in the 6 months that we've lived here. We also frequently get people who park right at the very edge of the driveway, so we have to be pretty careful when backing out because sometimes there's a very real risk of hitting a parked car.
This prius driver talked to DH because he was outside working when she came back to her car. She was all apologetic and said she had no idea there was a driveway there.

WTF?!
You should have posted a photo in your original post. Now I understand the situation.

The second one we didn't catch before he left.
The third one happened today. Jackass.
I like the honking suggestion. If the cops don't come quickly enough, do that.
We always just called the cops. When we didn't have any place to go, it was satisfying to watch.
We have had this happen to us so that we can't get out, or that half the driveway is blocked and we'd have to drive on our nice grass to get out. (It's all church people from a nearby church. English is not their first language, and they are very nice people but they just don't really get it about blocking the driveways so people like US can get to church or get anywhere or just not have our driveways blocked.)
We looked up our city's parking code for a particularly bad parking job one day. I printed off the page, DH circled the code in highlighter and then wrote a note on the back of it something like "You need to park X number of feet from our driveway on either side or you can get a ticket or towed. Next time we will call the police."
And, sadly, we HAVE had to call the police before in order to get out. (the non-emergency line telling them it is a non-emergency) A police officer will come out. Our police officer said they get MANY calls from this area on church days because so many people are blocked.
It is sad, but I will say that the note seemed to help because I think word spread that maybe we're a little touchy in this house so it has gotten a lot better. In some instances it's good if the neighbors' friends think "Don't park by their house - they're nuts!"
