I live kind of in the city and our driveway has been completely blocked by people parking on the street several times since we moved in. It's rather irritating.
So, this guy parks his giant truck fully across my driveway. Like the loser I am, I sit at my kitchen window the entire time he's parked there (like 10 minutes) and go outside when I see him walk up. I say, "you're blocking my driveway." He says, "well, there wasn't any other parking and it was only for a minute." "Uh, no, you were parked there for 10 minutes at least and I have absolutely no way of getting out of my driveway." And he has the NERVE to roll his eyes at me and is all "::sigh:: sorry."
Fuck you, dude! You're blocking MY driveway. I want so badly for someone to do this in just a couple of months when I'm like 7 or 8 months pregnant, so I can go out there and fake being in labor. Jerks.
I live in an apartment and my garage is in an alley. People have blocked my garage several times, it's so annoying. I hunk my horn until they come out and move their car.
Every single time someone parks in front of your driveway, you should get in your car, honk your horn like crazy until they move their car and tell them not to park in front of your driveway again. Every single time. It's so rude and really takes some balls to just block your driveway!

So so annoying. My neighbors were having a fence put up and the work truck was parked outside. I'm coming back from the store and their contractor is driving in front of me and parks right in front of my driveway. I tried calling out my window as he was walking away but he either didn't hear or ignored me. I also opened my garage door before he got out of the car. That should have clued him in.
Annoyed, I drove over my lawn to get in my driveway. I got out holding my baby and went back there to have someone move the truck. He was nowhere to be seen but a worker guy moved it right away.
He could have just parked the six feet further back so he was on the other side if my driveway instead of directly in front of it. Jerk. At least it has only happened to me once.

uuuugh at our old place, the 4 units were all above or behind the garages, so all 4 garage doors were lined up next to each other. my neighbor used to open his garage door and then park his truck in front of mine while he loaded things. HELLO! YOU ARE JUST LOADING THINGS, PARK IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN GARAGE! IT'S CLOSER!

Fuck that shit. What if there's an emergency and his fucking ass is blocking your driveway? NO.
I dealt with this shit during the summer with the neighbours next door. I left notes and then took it to the HOA. HOA contacted them. Weeks later, they got evicted but not because of my beef with them but I was so fucking happy when their ass moved out.

Grrrr! We were one of the first families to move into a new townhouse complex that was still being built. Workers were CONSTANTLY blocking/parking in our driveway. It made me absolutely insane. But my favorite was the day I came home from work to a port-a-potty on my front lawn. NO WAY, FUCKERS!
My old house (when I was married) had a fire hydrant in front, but kinda between us and the neighbor. When new people moved into the house next door, they kept parking in front of my house, but pulling up to the hydrant so that we could still park a car in front of our house. A few times though, one of us was parked in front and they parked behind us, partially blocking my driveway. I put a note on their car that said, "There is ONE parking spot in front of each of our houses. If you block my driveway again I will have you towed." And then I called the city and asked them to paint the curb red in front of the hydrant so that it was clear that only one car would fit.
I'd have him towed in a hot second. No fucks given.
The problem is, they never get here fast enough. We call the city every time it happens, but it always takes them forever and by the time they get here, the person has moved on.

Can I buy a boot? I'm only half kidding.
A private tow truck would probably get there faster than the city.

Oh honey, This is what horns are for.
Signed,
Chick who had to have her horn replaced because she uses it all the damn time on assholes.

I know! I always miss my horn blowing opportunities and realize I should have done that later. I don't remember if DD was sleeping in the backseat or I just totally spaced out.
I know its not the point but were you going anywhere?
This time, no. The first time it happened, yes. I ended up walking to the grocery store because the person didn't seem to be coming back any time soon.
At all other times, place a big orange cone there.
Place a big orange cone where? He was parked across my driveway. If I put a cone in the middle of my driveway, I can't get in and out without running over it.
Will a private tow truck tow someone when there isn't a way to find out who took the car? Do they call it in to the police?

I mean, annoying to have to move a cone, but less annoying than being trapped in your garage, no?

It doesn't happen often enough to warrant having to move a cone every time I pull in or out of my driveway. Plus, I would have to park the car in the street, get out to move the cone, then move the car into the driveway. Way more hassle than it's worth.
Anyway, I do appreciate the suggestion, but I was more just looking to bitch about it than anything.
And I could be wrong, but I really don't think a private tow company is going to tow a car from a city street. I don't know how that would get reported in such a way for the person to find who took the car.
I guess I could call the city and ask about it, which I may do if they won't act faster when we call them.
I would definitely call the city and find out what you can do/call next time this happens. Fuck these assholes. I would RAGE if I couldn't get out because I was blocked in MY OWN FUCKING DRIVEWAY.

Even better if they have to call every tow company in the city to find their car.
ETA although I assume the tow truck driver would leave some sort of notification (taped to your driveway, perhaps? lol)
Ok, I just called a private towing company and he said they will NOT tow a car that is located on a city street, even if it blocking access to private property. That's a police matter. So, the only option is to call the city (which we've done every time).
