Amazing?
Mine ended up being surprisingly decent. Friday we went to our favorite burger place and the club for a little bit.
Saturday we slept in. I spent the entire day with my family celebrating my aunt's 50th birthday. We played games, snacked, went to a fancy dinner at a Japanese steakhouse that lights your food on fire and does tricks with it, then played darts and pool and sang karaoke at a total dive bar - it was amazingly fun!

Mine was really good! Yesterday we ran a bunch of Christmas shopping errands, took Rox for a walk, and went hiking. It was very mild for December (mid fifties) but we were about the only souls at the nature preserve for some reason. I felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. It was so incredibly peaceful and we got to watch some deer frolicking in the woods. Amazing.
Last night we actually went back to the nature preserve for their Winter Walk thing--you can get some Christmas cookies and hot cocoa and walk on the main path through the woods that is illuminated by luminaries out to a bonfire. It was a lot of fun.
Today we went to see The Nutcracker and now I'm drinking wine and waiting for Homeland to start!

It's been in the 50s here too. The hike sounds really relaxing and wonderful.

It was great!
Friday, my sisters and her 2 boys came over for breakfast for dinner and Frosty movie.
Saturday, my parents watched DS so DH and I could have a date night! We went to a Greek restaurant and then saw John Oliver. I am still laughing at some of his jokes!
Sunday, DH and I hit the gym and a few errands before my parents brought DS home. We spent the rest of the day watching football.
Just one more week of work, then TWO whole weeks off! WOOT!

Good morning!
Friday we went to my company Christmas party, which was pretty fun. A lot of people were dancing, so that was fun to see, and I even got my H to dance a couple of songs with me! The food was really good, too - I especially loved the ceviche and crab meat quesadillas.
Saturday I ran a couple of errands, made a batch of dog food and some dog treats, and wrapped presents. When it got dark, we took the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood to look at the Christmas lights on all the houses in our area.
Yesterday we didn't do much, mostly watched football, made a homemade pizza for lunch, the H cooked us dinner, and a friend stopped by to watch the Texans game. Just a relaxing day, which is what we wanted!
I made 14 pans of fudge, 200+ cookies and a quadruple batch of nuts and bolts. I also made a few runs to the grocery store!
Saturday I went over to a friend's place who was having a Christmas party then MH and I went to another friends place where we had a pizza making competition and drank wine. It was really fun. Sunday I slept in, did laundry and baked cookies and made fudge.

Friday we went to dinner with some friends. The company was nice, but I was disappointed in the meal. They actually comped hubby's burger because it was undercooked. Boo.
Saturday we had a Christmas party. It was a blast even though a third of the people who RSVP'd didn't show. I still had fun, though. I love parties!
Sunday I played 6 hours of Dragon Age and then we went to see the zoo lights with our friends. We brought a thermos of hot chocolate and a flask of peppermint schnapps. It was a glorious time! Plus, it wasn't freezing - we're getting that awesomely warm weather as well. I love it!
OrangePixyStix - tell me about this homemade dog food. I've done dog treats, but never dog food.
I follow the guidelines in a couple of books I had read, including Barker's Grub and Woofing it Down.
We've been doing it for 4.5 years now, and can see improvements with our older dog on better health, so we just keep doing it! Seriously she used to have frequent asthma attacks and now she doesn't have any breathing problems and doesn't wheeze nearly as much as she did back when she was eating regular mass-produced dry food.
Basically we use 50% protein, 20% vegetables, 30% grain/starch, and put in regular vitamin capsules of Flaxseed and Fish Oil once it's done. It kind of looks like a big casserole but without any spice. We'll use what's on sale or cheapest, but typically our recipes includes ground beef/turkey, brown rice or macaroni noodles, a bag of frozen veggies (anything without corn, our youngest pup has sensitivity to that - but we'll use shredded carrots, green beans, peas, broccoli, etc), and a bag of beans (lentils, pinto, navy, kidney, whatever is on sale really). If a large roast is on sale at the store, we'll cook that in a crockpot and shred it instead of using a ground meat. We make a big batch about once per week, or a double-batch that will last us around 2 weeks, so that we're not making it every day and we can freeze portions.
The H and I trade off on cooking it, so it's a routine now and while it is a little more labor intensive than just dropping food from a bag into the bowl, it's really not all that much more $$ than it would be if you were buying the higher end dry dog food. Beans are less than $1 per bag, a big bag of rice is only a couple of bucks and will last several batches, and the meat can be bought on manager special or bought in bulk when the prices go down.
I have some information in PDF form if you want more details, I can email it to you if you are interested!

Friday we went to a friends house where she cooked me a birthday dinner. We got home around midnight and decided to watch a 3D xmas movie. Jay also thought it would be a good idea to consume tequila. Bad idea.
Saturday, well, Saturday Jay slept the entire day away, vacillating between the couch and the bed. I watched a bunch of Xmas movies, cooked breakfast, did random house things. That night we walked around a church grounds where they decorate with lights, then grabbed a pizza at Bertuccis. We then went home and watched Elf.
Sunday we did a bunch of errands, grocery shopped, went home and watched football and then Polar Express in 3D. jay was finally feeling better but still refrained from all alcohol.
It was great! Friday I picked up my prize pack from the radio station (an autographed turntable and The Black Keys catalog on vinyl) and then G took me out to a fancy dinner to celebrate getting into grad school.
Saturday I wrote xmas cards while G did some present shopping, then I went in to work to finish up the annual art sale. I sold a TON of my jewelry, but have enough left over for presents, so it's a win/win. Then I met G and a friend at a bar for dinner and drinks. Then we changed into fancy clothes and went to our friends' annual holiday cocktail party. Met some great people and drank a ton of champagne.
Sunday we went out for brunch, then went to the Ravens game.

Friday: Drove to Austin and went out for Thai with BIL and family. We met another couple there who we had met before and couldn't stand the guy. Fortunately, he was actually tolerable.
Saturday: We did some shopping until the baby's diaper overflowed and they didn't have spare jeans. (BRE) Got ready for the evening. We went to a fancy steakhouse downtown and it was delicious! We had a good time at the concert; I was just bummed that they didn't allow photography.
Sunday: Got ready and left BIL's house. We did some more running around before we drove back, but found nothing. Set up MIL's new tv, then did the usual Sunday chores. But I finally got all my Christmas shopping done!
Monday: Technically I was working, but it really felt like visiting my grandparents. This couple lives 2 hours away and like 20 miles down a dirt road. When we (me and work BFF) were 5 miles from their house, we hit something and our tire deflated in no time. We called the people we were visiting and they said it would be 10 minutes before they could pick us up. After 2 hours in the car and a cup of coffee each, we both had to pee like crazy, so we straight-up country-girled it and relieved ourselves on the side of the road. Despite all that, we had a great visit. It will definitely be a trip we will always remember!
